It is treated with Sigmas Super Multi-Layer Coating to reduce flare and ghosting, resulting in much-improved image contrast - even in backlit conditions. the 30 mm EX DN f/2.8 Lens benefits from the inclusion of a newly-developed AF motor, which moves the lens units directly without requiring gears or other mechanical parts to drive focusing. Providing superb accuracy and speed for consistently sharp images, the AF system also enables the lens to focus extremely quietly, making it ideal for use during video recordings as well as still photography or for situations where discretion is paramount. The AF unit is controlled by electromagnetic, so it will only work when power from the camera is sent to the lens. If the lens is not attached to the camera or the camera is turned off, the AF unit will move freely inside the lens.
