This iteration of the iconic 998 takes inspiration from Joseph Heller’s 1961 novel ‘ Catch 22’ which takes place in WWII. Drawing palette cues from the original cover of its literary influence, which utilises a red/blue/white theme, the M998HL employs vibrancy to its details to pop from the upper. A blend of breathable meshing, soft suede overlays, smooth leather to the quarter ’N’ & reflective panelling to the base of the tongue work in cohesion to provide a textural depth across the design. Underfoot, New Balance’s Abzorb cushioning sandwiches against a rigid heel counter & a rugged outsole achieving a comfy & supportive ride. The crisp white midsole also takes a punctuating pop of red & blue to work with the upper arrangement. Finished with Made In The USA tongue embroidery & a ‘ Catch 22’ cover inspired insole design.
