Keeping with the Beyond gender concept making bikes unisex the frame uses size-specific tubes & layups, this technology allows the Cru X to feature the same ride characteristics across every size in the range. Not only this, but it also allowed Specialized to significantly drop the frame weight, so the Cru X now comes in around a scant 900 grams for a 56cm (*dependent on frame size & colour)—over 400 grams lighter than the previous frameset. A stiff & light frame isn’t enough for Cyclocross & Specialized pay great attention to compliance in the right places lowering the seat collar by two centimetres for more exposed seat post & cushion for big hits. Cornering is important in Cyclocrss so a low bottom bracket & sharp front end helps with cornering even in rough terrain.
