MIPS (Multi-directional Impact Protection System) is designed to protect your head from glancing blows. MIPS allows your helmet to move in a controlled way on impact to absorb some of the force of a crash, reducing the shock to your brain. Once MIPS has absorbed the initial shock the in-moulded helmet shell will then absorb the bulk of the force. Overall this dual system gives you a safer helmet. The Specialized Echelon is designed for road cycling & sits low on your head to give a compact profile. The Headset fit system gives plenty of adjustment so you can get the fit exactly right & the large vents will keep your head cool even on hot days when you are working very hard.
