The Box hedge plant (Buxus Sempervirens) is the most popular species for luxury low hedging. This evergreen hedging plant is perfect for hedges from 50cm up to 1.5m & is ideal for topiary. Box hedging plants have very small, dark green leaves so they're easy to clip into a formal, neat shape & because Box plants are slow growing, you don't have to clip too often
- once a year is adequate
- or twice if you're really neat! Box hedge plants are surprisingly tough, standing up to almost all soil types, shade & drought, these bushy hedging plants lend themselves to edging pathways, formal hedges & decorative knotted hedge gardens. Grows 10-20cm per year. Supplied in 1.5 litre pots. Potted Plants are a more developed plant as their root systems are not disturbed during the lifting & planting process. They can be planted year round & if necessary can be left in their pots for several weeks before planting if you are unsure as to when you will be able to get round to doing the work; all they need is a little water to keep them happy. As more mature plants you dont need quite as many per metre as the bare root plants (normally 3 to 5 would suffice depending on how dense you require your hedge & how quickly you need it to look established). Pots are a great way to create a new hedge effect more quickly.
