- Clematis As its name states, Clematis ‘ Early Sensation’ is an early flowering variety, blooming from March until June. It has unmissable giant snowy-white flower heads that form in bundles, creating an attractive display for the eye. Its stunning flower clusters are complimented by it’s lime green stamens, which later on turn into candyfloss-like seed heads. This Clematis plant beautifully spreads to 1m (3’) & grows to a height of 2m (6’). Unlike some Old man’s beard, Clematis cartmanii has non-clinging stems. First of all gold in colour, it’s thick foliage later develops into a rich emerald green, which looks incredible twirling up trellis, fences or posts. This compact Clematis plant enjoys growing alongside other mature shrubs & would look superb grown in a container on a patio.
