Jacobinia pauciflora Firefly also known as Justica rizzzinii is a rounded evergreen shrub originating from Brazil but rarely seen in the UK. This highly attractive, compact & dense growing, woody shrub will create an amazing display in any garden or patio. The brightly coloured tubular flowers, producing small scarlet & yellow tubular flowers that are borne profusely over a long period of time from late December to April, a time of year when colour is always desperately needed in the garden. This shrub is equally at home in a conservatory over the winter months which will also keep the colour closer to the house which is produced from late winter through to early spring, alternatively a little shelter may be required in some areas. Happy in ordinary soil Firefly loves hot conditions & will grow in sun or partial shade. RHS Award of Garden Merit winner. Flowers January-early April/late September-December. Height 60-70cm. Supplied as a bare root in a 9cm pot. Our first awareness of this plant was on a small Somerset nursery who had bought a plant from Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens in Dorset. As this & its Country of origin suggests it is not fully hardy & should only be planted outside in sheltered coastal areas in the Southern or South Western parts of Engl&. However if you are fortunate enough to live in one of these favoured warmer areas or have a frost protected glasshouse or conservatory anywhere in the UK where you can either bring in a patio pot overwinter or plant in a permanent bed this variety is a stunner! ...

Jacaranda Plant - Bonsai blueAt last, the world’s first compact Jacaranda! The Jacaranda - Bonsai Blue is truly a beautiful plant. We are fortunate enough to have complete exclusivity in the whole of Europe! You could be one of the first people in Europe to grow this fantastic plant.;If you have travelled to some far-flung places you may have seen the streets lined with huge Jacaranda trees growing to 20 metres high! Arching overhead, enclosing you in a giant rip curl wave effect of the brightest blue flowers both above your head and below your feet. Around 15 years ago, Mr Sakai in Japan made a chance discovery of a single flowering branch on a young Jacaranda tree (they normally take 15 years to flower).;After more than 10 years of careful selective breeding, Mr Sakai has finally
perfected the early years flowering dwarf Jacaranda that you see here. So thanks to his efforts, we can all enjoy this wonderful plant in our own gardens or patios. The Jacaranda - Bonsai Blue’s name comes from the locals use in Brazil.
