Flowering over a long period from July to September the ‘ Dropmore Scarlet’ is a fierce honeysuckle with long, trumpet-shaped red-orange flowers, sometimes followed by vibrant red berries. With exception to the bitterest of winters this Honeysuckle is robust & semi-evergreen. The ' Dropmore Scarlet' is excellent for rapidly covering walls & fences or unsightly features in the garden. Despite being unscented, this vigorous climber more than compensates with its flame-coloured blooms & blue-green leaves. Culinary uses: Parboiled the leaves can be used as a vegetable. The sweet nectar from the flowers can be sucked & made into a syrup or puddings. Tea can also be produced from the flowers, leaves, & buds.
