An extremely attractive & quite fascinating tree (a relative of the quince family & a good pollinator for pears), with large, glossy leaves, beautiful white blossom in springtime & pretty bronze foliage in autumn. The curious flattish fruit are ready to pick in October & should then be stored for a few weeks (known as bletting) to fully develop their truffle-like flavour. A fine accompaniment to wine & cheese! Pollination group 4. Quince rootstock. Height up to 4m; spread up to 4m. For growing & planting advice read our leaflet The_ Fruit_ Garden.
