Polyscias balfouriana is an unusual houseplant that loves any shaded positions, away from bright, sunny windows. It is a slow growing plant that develops an upright tree-like looks with its woody trunk & beautiful canopy of variegated, scallop-edged leaves. It will remain a neat & compact plant for a long time due to its slow growing & stiffly upright in habit, reaching a maximum height of 1.5m (59).

Height:
150cm (59). Spread: 60cm (24). Although it is an easy to grow specimen, Polyscias needs careful placement in order to thrive. Aralias do not enjoy being moved & tend to shed their leaves if repositioned, so take care to find the right spot from the outset. Position in a bright room, away from radiators & cold draughts, with a constant temperature above 16C (60F). Ideally in a shaded corner of a bright room, well away from the direct glare of the sun. Water little & often to keep the soil reliably moist between spring & autumn. Be sure the pot can drain well after each watering. In the winter, reduce watering but do not let the soil dry out completely. Feed regularly between March & September when they are in active growth.
