Drosophila suzukii is a species of fruit fly that is becoming more prevalent in the UK. Unlike its cousin, this pest lays its eggs in unripe fruit in the early season between May & July. All soft fruit (particularly cherries) are susceptible, & while the fruit may look healthy on the outside, the flesh becomes infested with maggots as it ripens. Place the trap, baited with a special attractant, near hedgerows & borders where the flies overwinter to control them before they reach the young fruit. One trap will cover up to 15 sq m.
