Collection contains 36 bare root plants (6 of each variety): Gariguette
- This very old & much-loved French variety is prized by leading chefs for its wonderful scent & outstanding flavour. The elongated orange-red fruits are soft & juicy & have the most intense, sweet, aromatic flavour. They are so fragrant that when in season they perfume the markets in Provence with the most heavenly scent & simply taste fantastic! The only downside is that compared to today's modern varieties, the plant lacks vigour & yields are low. Frau Mieze Schindler
- Is the most popular variety across much of Europe because the flavour is out of this world! Sweet & succulent
- not watery or dull. The fruits are so soft & delicious that they are unsuitable for transport, so this variety has never even stepped foot inside a supermarket. Manille
- Raised from a cross between Gariguette & a selection with Mara des Bois in its pedigree, it is little surprise that this new French variety has outstanding flavour. The berries have a distinctive aroma & the flavour is incredibly sweet. The plants are heavy cropping & have good resistance to powdery mildew, verticillium wilt, crown rot & red core. Honeyoye
- Consistently bears heavy yields of large, beautiful, crimson fruit. Rich color carries over into jam & wine. Disease resistant & easy to grow. Self-pollinating. Snow White
- A vigorous selection, producing attractive, medium-sized, uniform, conical berries. It was the sweetest strawberry in our trials this year. This selection is June-bearing, ripening mid-season, is winter hardy & has excellent disease resistance. The flavour is characteristic of white-fruited strawberries being very aromatic with a unique fresh fruit flavour reminiscent of pineapple. Mara des Bois
- This much sought after variety combines the sweet, aromatic taste of a wild strawberry with the fruit size of a modern hybrid. The berries are a lovely deep red when ripe & just irresistible! Strawberry Mara de Bois crops over a long period too
- May to September.
