It produces a rosette of narrow green leaves with up to five flowers on each stem, each with a huge central yellow eye, & a delicious honey scent. Best grown en masse in a sunny rockery, or in a raised bed or patio containers. Attractive to pollinators. Flowers in April. Height 12cm. Bulb size 6/7cm. (Bulb sizes"ed in centimetres refer to the circumference of bulbs. All bulbs are sourced from cultivated stocks.) Species (or 'botanical') tulips originate in Central Asia. They have fascinating colours which look magnificent in rockeries, borders & wild gardens alike.
