The Black Grouse is a rare relative to the Famous Grouse. It is bold in character, with a Charismatic uniquely smoky but smooth taste. Released in 2007, it is a Blended peated whisky that was initially developed for the Swedish market. The Black Grouse is a strikingly beautiful bird that is an incredible show off, he has a raised white tail & with white striped across the feathers on his wings. It is a blended whisky born out of a mixture of the Famous Grouse & a mixture of Islay malts. The smoky influence of the peated malts is balanced by the trademark smoothness of the Famous Grouse to create underlying hints of cocoa & spice. With a long, smoky, aromatic finish it isn't surprising that it got voted the best new Scotch whisky in Jim Murray's 2008 Whisky Bible.
