Started in 2000 Compass Box is a specialist Scotch whisky maker. In 2001 they created Eleuthera their first ever blend, made exclusively with single malt scotch about 80% unpeated Highland & 20% peated Islay. However after 3 years of production tragedy struck when they could suddenly no longer obtain one of the key whiskies that the recipe required, so in 2004 it was retired becoming a Lost Blend they could no longer make. The Lost Blend is a homage to that first special single malt blend Eleuthera. This Lost Blend is made up of a simlar ratio of Highland & Islay as Eleuthera was but from different distilleries. The Highlands are represented by an aged single malt from the Clynelish distillery, & an American oak aged whisky just shy of two decades old from ALlt-A-Bhainne, & the Islay factor comes from an expression from the Caol Ila distillery. This blend of unique quality single malts gives the Lost Blend a complex taste underlined by fruit & smoke. Compass box created three unique labels for this whisky all based around lost items, so be aware not all the bottles look the same. Nose: Green apple, hay, herbs, & peat Taste: Baked apple, blackcurrants, & an underlying smokiness
