70cl Recommended as an aperitif whisky & for a whisky that is aged as a 10 year old we defiantly think it has the complexity of something much older. A very delicate complex whisky that needs your time & appreciation. ...
When Glenfarclas released their first cask strength whisky there was a lot of excitement as it went flying off the shelves. So this time around we expect the same to happen, if not more, due to a new age stamp of 20 years being added to it. It is a limited edition range, creating around 4000 bottles with the cask strength at around 60% ABV, so not a great deal to go around. The official tasting notes suggest that the nose is powerful, with aromas of Demerara sugar & figs, with the end reminiscent of a Christmas cake. The palate is remarkably smooth for a 60% whisky. More sweetness in the front of your mouth, giving way to the bitter sweetness of the chocolate covered coffee bean flavour. Then comes lots of fruits & brandy flavours with delicate sherry tones after a while. The finish is long with the age really shinning through over the strength, defiantly a dram to savour as the finish will last long. ...
The colour is a deep peaty gold with a complex nose of oaky, apples & pears, & a tempting dark toffee sweetness. The flavours is dry & assertive, develops quickly to reveal a rich spiciness, combined with a hint of oak & sherried fruit. To finish it has amazingly smooth for the strength; wonderfully warming & with a lingering smokiness, yet very rounded. ...
A multi award winning single malt from Glenfarclas; this 12 year old expression is heavier on the dried fruit & sherry notes from its casking. Rich, sumptuous & a superb example of a Speyside single malt. ...
70cl Glenfarclas 21 year old has been double matured in both bourbon & sherry casks before being finished off for four months in casks that previously held rum. It is full bodied & boasts an array of flavours including fruity notes to smoky tones. ...
The Glenfarclas 25 year old is a single malt Scotch whisky from Speyside. Glenfarclas is one of the last family run distilleries left in the world & is owned by the Grant family who have been running it since 1860. The 25 year old is simply the epitome of long aged sherried Speyside whiskey. Given an age statement of 25 years but due to its continuous ageing in sherry casks gives it a much older feel. The colour is a deep amber with dark gold highlights. On the nose it is complex, yet refined delicately peated, with fresh tempting aromas of marmalade, honey, freshly ground coffee, sherry & nuts. On the palate it is full bodied & robust, the sherry & oak fight to over power one another yet neither achieve it as a powerful nutty smokiness envelops them both. The finish is intense, long lasting, dry, smoky & malty. Which leaves a beautiful dark Belgium chocolate taste at the back of your mouth to complete the flavour of the 25 year old. Serve with most desserts, or enjoy as a dessert on its own. ...
