Jack Daniel's 1915 was a very hectic & special year for Jack Daniel's. it was four years after Jack Daniel's had died, the world was at war & Tennessee was under prohibition. This was time when people begun to worry if Jack Daniel's would ever be the same again. however Mr Daniel's would not leave his famous distillery in the hands of no one. Mr Lem Motlow, Jack's nephew, was now in charge of the distillery & he did not change a thing from his uncle's way of making Tennessee whiskey. He continued to perform the charcoal mellowing exactly how his uncle wanted him to but he still came under fire from critics. Therefore Lem sent off his whiskey to the most prestigious testing body on of his day, the institute of hygiene in London & on the 17th of November 1915 his whiskey was deemed unaltered & worthy of the certificate of institute of hygiene. This stopped his critics as Jack Daniel's still had the same fantastic taste & style. ...
This special bottle is the sixth in the Jack Daniel's Gold Medal series & honours the 1954 Brussels, Belgium star of excellence. The story behind this special bottle of whiskey is a feel good story, & starts with a simple letter to the Jack Daniel's distillery. In this letter was instructions that there would be a whisky contest in Brussels. Upon reading it, Reagor one of lem's sons, handed the letter to one of the distilleries top men, Herb Fanning, & told him to take care of this & make sure Jack Daniel's was entered. The normal procedure would be for Herb to consult with the advertising department about what to send, but instead he walked straight up to the production line & swiped the first three bottle he could get his hands on. Once the advertising department heard about this they weren't to pleased with herb & upon confronting they said he should have picked a special bottle to send, to which Mr Herb responded “why, all Jack Daniel's is special”. After this confrontation Herb was little worried he might loose his job until a second letter arrived from Brussels stating that Jack Daniel's had won the competition in Brussels & give the star of excellence. Mr Herb kept his job & went on to be very successful within Jack Daniel's; he even stared in some of the Jack Daniel's adverts until he passed away in 1997 at the magnificent age of 93. Mr Herb's actions went down in Jack Daniel's history & ensured that every single bottle made, was at an award winning standard! ...

This gift set contains the classic Jack Daniel's No.7, the refined Gentleman jack & the Elegant Single barrel. These three Jack Daniel's whiskeys are the rocks in Jack Daniel's Range. The classic No.7 is one of the most popular whiskies in the world. The whiskey is filtered drop by drop through ten feet of sugar maple charcoal (known as the Lincoln County Process). The reason behind this is the distinct smoothness it generates making it a whiskey not bourbon. The water used is from a cave near the distillery that flows all year round at a rate of 800 gallons per minute at a constant temperature & is virtually iron free. These are the key ingredients & processes to make No.7 whiskey. Gentleman Jack was one of Jack Daniel's later creations made in 1988. The difference between Gentleman Jack & the rest of the Jack Daniel's Whiskies is that it goes through the charcoal mellowing process not once but twice, giving it a more refined taste & worthy of being called a gentleman. Jack Daniel's Single Barrel is made in exactly the same way as No.7, it even Includes:: the same ingredients. So what make this whiskey so special, it does have a higher ABV of 45% & is 100% proof but that isn't all. The main difference is where the barrel is placed in the barrels house, for single barrel whiskies, they are placed at the highest point in the barrel house. Here the summer temperatures can reach well over 100 degree Fahrenheit & in the winter they can easily drop below freezing levels. These extreme conditions can cause the whiskey to move in & out of the barrel dramatically, resulting in the intense maturation needed to develop the unique flavour of Jack Daniel's Single Barrel. ...

Gentleman Jack was first produced in 1988, it was the first new whiskey that Jack Daniel's produced in over 100years. Gentleman Jack is a little different to the rest of the Jack Daniel's whiskeys. It still contains the same ingredients that the rest of the Jack Daniel's family do, the mixture of rye, grains or corn, barley & pure iron free water, but it is how it is made that is different. It has been filtered not once, but twice through the sugar maple charcoal filtration system. Giving it a more refined taste & worthy of the name gentleman. It is then stored in the same place as the rest of the normal NO.7 & left there to mature until the tasters say that it is ready. They do not put a time limit on it, they judge it simply but the first sip. ...
