In June, 1904, Mr. Jack Daniel loaded some of his best whiskey & travelled to St. Louis to compete at the World's Fair! There he would mingle with the world's most famous distillers! On the day of the judging, 24 tables were lined up in rows. The tables where filled with all the whiskeys in the competition. The judges moved slowly from whiskey to whiskey, tasting each, but being careful not to swallow the whiskey inside. They would then rinse their mouths with very cold water before moving to the next competitor. As the afternoon drew on, all but 15 distilleries were eliminated. Each whiskey was sampled again, until finally the judges were ready to announce their decision. One of the English judges, Henry Hoctor, stepped forward & proclaimed in dramatic tones " Gentlemen the Gold Medal for the world's finest whiskey goes to Jack Daniel Distillery, Lynchburg, not Virginia, but Lynchburg in Tennessee." When the excitement of the fair had subsided, Jack returned to Lynchburg to celebrate his new won fame. In honour of the event, he designed a uniquely shaped bottle, filled it with his award winning whiskey & gave it to the many people who were responsible for making his whiskey. In the early 1970's we released a replica of Mr. Jack's special Gold Medal bottle in the original half-gallon size, which has become quite a collectors item. This year celebrates the 100th anniversary of Jack Daniel's Tennessee Whiskey wining that first gold medal, & we are pleased to offer a re-release of this special bottle which symbolizes an important event in the history of Jack Daniel's. ...

Jack Daniel's 1915 was a very hectic & special year for Jack Daniel's. it was four years after Jack Daniel's had died, the world was at war & Tennessee was under prohibition. This was time when people begun to worry if Jack Daniel's would ever be the same again. however Mr Daniel's would not leave his famous distillery in the hands of no one. Mr Lem Motlow, Jack's nephew, was now in charge of the distillery & he did not change a thing from his uncle's way of making Tennessee whiskey. He continued to perform the charcoal mellowing exactly how his uncle wanted him to but he still came under fire from critics. Therefore Lem sent off his whiskey to the most prestigious testing body on of his day, the institute of hygiene in London & on the 17th of November 1915 his whiskey was deemed unaltered & worthy of the certificate of institute of hygiene. This stopped his critics as Jack Daniel's still had the same fantastic taste & style. ...
