Bacardi have gone above & beyond for their 150th anniversary by crafting a truly magnificent new bottled rum, & its name -The Ron Bacardi de Maestros de Ron, Vintage, MMXII. The rum is crafted from eight family members who have the title of Maestros de Ron, coming together for 3 days & combining their extensive knowledge of rums to craft the best rum known to man. By fusing together the best rums from the Bacardi cellar, they have formed the master blend. The rum was then laid to rest in American oak barrels for 20 years & then swapped into 60 year old Cognac barrels to age. Once the process was complete, the eight maestros de ron were left with 4 different rums to chose from. To pick the prized rum the maestros de ron checked flavour, aroma & visibility, & only once there was a unanimous vote between all eight maestros de ron could they begin to think about the vessel that would hold their masterpiece. Once the rum was chosen it was time to pick the vessel to hold it. After serious consideration, the creation of the decanter was given to Professional glass makers Nouvel Glass Studio in Mexico over 200 miles away from the birth of the rum. The design is one of the most complex designs for any glass bottle, the sphere within a sphere was planned to represent the seed of the ‘el coco' plant which was planted by Facundo Bacardi Moreau, the son of the founder of Bacardi. The decanter was formulated by a blowing technique & if it was a gram over or under the correct weight, it would be discarded, showing the precision & perfection that Bacardi have put into this rum. The rum is only sold in 50cl bottles, & presented in a leather bound presentation box. With only 400 bottles going on sale it is an honour & privilege to house Bacardi's most precious creation.
