If you manage to keep your eyes open during your flight you'll get a bird's eye view of all the hustle and bustle of Camberley from the rows and rows of neatly lined motors at the British Car Auctions lot to trains passing through Fleet station and cars streaming along the adjacent A30. It boasts all the facilities (including an impressive tarmac runway) without all the airspace restrictions or the hustle and bustle of a busy passenger terminal. That means you have all the sky to play with. The aeroplane you'll be going up in is a funky little Avions Pierre Robin R2160. French designed and built these aircraft are quite rare in the UK but they are fully aerobatic to +6 and -3g which is perfectly adequate to give the novice trickster a thrill. Fly aerobatics near Swindon! Go for some hair-raising loops and rolls high above the Oxfordshire countryside. We are offering 20 and 30-minute flights filled with aerial moves that’ll turn your world upside down.
/>You will be flying out of Sandhill Farm airfield for these Firefly experiences. It’s a discrete and friendly little airfield tucked in amongst the fields and farms around Shrivenham. Being just north-east of Swindon centre on the A420 it’s easy to get to from Oxfordshire and neighbouring Wiltshire too.
You will be flying over the countryside around Swindon in a Slingsby Firefly which is a bit of a gem for aviation fans. It’s a very capable two-seater aerobatic training aircraft that first flew in 1974 used by the RAF from 1995 to 2010 and much-loved by all.
Indeed the plane’s RAF trainer yellow livery and distinctive G-HONG registration is a nod to this Firefly’s story. Originally flown by the Royal Hong Kong Auxiliary Air Force as a Police search and rescue support aircraft she returned to the UK when the unit disbanded. After a stint with the RAF she is now the star of the show at this airfield just outside Swindon.
/>And we must mention this Firefly is actually a T67 M200 version which is particularly rare as only 26 were ever built. She comes equipped with a more powerful 200bhp single engine and inverted fuel and oil systems - just what you need for performing aerobatics and that’s exactly what you’ll be doing on these thrilling experiences!
/>Whether you choose the 20 or the 30-minute Firefly experience there will be plenty of time for you to get some serious aerobatic flying moves under your belt. You’ll need to be mentally prepared for it. After all it’s not every day you find yourself upside in a plane! Buy your voucher for a spot of aerobatics out Swindon’s Sandhill Farm now and get inverted!
Prepare yourself for some serious 'seat of your pants' biplane aerobatics! This Stampe is resident at Shoreham Airport and is ready to taxi off on an aerobatic experience with you onboard. We are offering 30 40 and 60 minute chock-to-chock flights in this wonderful open-cockpit plane. In comparison to modern aerobatic aircraft the Stampe might look like a flimsy vintage biplane but don't judge plane by it's fabric wing coverings. This feisty little flyer is a very close Gallic cousin to the Tiger Moth and was a favourite in the Belgian and French Air Forces deployed as a sport aerobatic trainer. Production halted with the outbreak of WW2 but after France was liberated state-owned aircraft manufacturer SNCAN took up an order for over 700 Stampes - and this was one of the 846 that were built in France. And that French heritage is very much in evidence with the 'Tricolore' proudly painted on the tail fin. This is a superb 1946 example of a Stampe SV4C. It's proper magnificent men i...
Want to learn some fancy aerobatics in Essex? Yearning to do a loop the loop in a plane? Well these aerobatics experiences out of Stapleford Aerodrome will get you off to a flying start as you make your foray into the world of aerial free styling using one of the best trainer aircraft designed for the job.The Slingsby Firefly is actually a British-built aeroplane and a specially modified military version served as the basic aerobatics trainer in the RAF from 1995 to 2010 before it was replaced by the Grob. This little low-wing high performance plane has seen some serious action including a certain member of the Royal Family who earned his spinning wings in one - but we couldn't possibly divulge who it was…And although you'll be treated like a VIP for your session there are no airs and graces here as it's all very down to earth and friendly here in Stapleford with their Firefly. The team is highly experienced with a CV in flying and aerobatics that's as long as your arm. All that means your accompanying pilot instructor is an expert when it comes to handling the Slingsby and will be only too pleased to show you the ropes. It's worth noting that the Slingsby you'll be flying in is the T67M. This 160hp 'M' version is considered by aficionados as the best version of the Firefly there is as it is the modified military model. In aeronautical techno-geek speak that means it has a constant-speed propeller and an inverted fuel and oil system which for us mere mortals means that it can fly for quite a long time upside down!So now you've got the right aeroplane for the job and a fully qualified instructor it's time to get ready for some aerobatics above the Essex skies. Step out onto the apron and after a walk around this very pretty little Firefly it's time to climb aboard the cockpit (admittedly a little snug!) get the harness on and get ready to flyOnce airborne and cruising happily you will be asked if you'd like to take control. They tell us the Slingsby is a 'real stick and rudder plane' that requires skill and precise gentle handling to get the best out of it so we'll soon see if you've got what it takes. And of course your flight includes a spectacular run of aerobatics over Essex that's bound to include a loop the loop and if you're brave enough maybe a few slow stylish spins that the Slingsby is famous for.
