preparing your meal. This

foraging style. If you

what to look for Mother
Nature provides you with
everything you need to

down to fashioning your
own spoons out of wood
this is taking food
preparation back to
basics.

place a trap. You’ll
discover which plants are
edible and which are not.
You’ll learn how to
gather and purify water
for drinking and cooking.
You’ll help prepare the
fire for cooking on. And
you’ll be whittling
those all important
spoons yourselves too
that you’ll then use
when cooking your
meal.
An
integral part of these
fascinating foraging
experiences is the trap.
You’ll be preparing
what you’ve caught
(usually rabbit) for
cooking and you are
welcome to participate or
observe. If you’d
rather not take part at
all in this part of the
course that’s fine too
and shouldn’t put you
off booking onto the
experience - there’s
plenty more foraging to
do!
As you can
imagine a bit of
remoteness off the usual
beaten paths of Cumbria
is required for this
course which is why
canoeing out to an island
is part of your day.
It’ll take you away
from civilisation (or at
least where you parked
the car!) to the island
basecamp without trekking
for hours. It’s a
paddle and then getting
stuck in and finding what
rich flora and fauna is
right at your feet.
Using a mix of
team-based challenges
demonstrations and tasks
this full day out is
bound to be fruitful in

to succeed.Orienteering
is an adventure sport to
exercise the mind and the
body. It actually started
in the early 20th century
in Scandinavia where it
is still very much a
popular pastime today be
it as a leisure activity
or a hardcore sporting
competition and there's
even an international
federation that governs
the sport. With miles and
miles of varied
countryside to explore at
either a woodland estate
near Leeds or the grounds
of a castle near
Harrogate will certainly
whet you appetite for
learning all about
navigational
pursuit.These
introductory courses are
principally aimed at
beginners with
instructors on hand to
show you the basics but
there are three different
routes plotted so you can
go easy medium or hard
depending on how much of
a challenge you're up
for.In essence it's a
