Our best value microlighting lessons available nationwide! We are offering 20 30 and 60-minute microlight experiences departing from airfields across the country. Your voucher is valid for all locations currently listed making these microlight lessons our most flexible too. All microlight experiences start with a pre-flight briefing where you will be shown around the aircraft. The main characteristic is that it is really light (to be classed as a microlight it has to weigh less than 450kg). The basic principles of flight will also be explained - all fascinating stuff even before you've taken to the air! Once securely strapped in the instructor will handle the take off and climb. Having settled down into level flight your pilot will demonstrate a few gentle turns and you will then be given the opportunity to try for yourself. You might not believe us now but you'll find it's really quite easy (yet still totally thrilling!) to actually fly the microlight yourself. Microlight aircra...

Can microlights fly over Snowdonia National Park? Yes they certainly can! We are offering a range of great value for money microlight flights from Caernarfon Airport for you to discover this most stunning part of North Wales. You will be flying in a flex-wing microlight. These are the ultralight trike aircraft with a hang-glider style high wing where you use weight shift to control the microlight. And whilst at first glance they make look small and rather flimsy they are actually really stable in the air. And in fact the first solo round the world microlight trip was in a Mainair Blade just like this one! On these trips you'll have plenty of time on your microlight flight to explore the expanse that is the Snowdonia. Every day is different here with the mountain peaks constantly changing colour with the light and the seasons. And of course being so close to the Straits and the Irish sea you get some fabulous coastline views too. You'll be sitting behind the pilot in the raised rear passenger seat of this tandem microlight. Fully strapped in you'll be ready for take off and ready to take in those amazing views. As it is all open to the elements you'll be wearing a flying suit and be kitted out with a helmet which has an integrated comms system so you can and your pilot can talk. Your pilot is Keith. A highly experienced aviator this Welshman is understandably proud of his rather special 'backyard' that is Snowdonia. He also loves flying his microlight and being able to combine such breathtaking views with flying is pretty much living the dream. These experiences give you the chance to get a little taste of all that. We are offering 30 45 and 60-minute flights in Keith's microlights above Snowdonia all year round. The minimum age for these flights is just 14 which is an brilliant opportunity for any youngster to get airborne. And of course all ages will enjoy the incredible mix of mountains and beaches all rolled into one wonderful microlight flight.
Enjoy microlighting in Camberley flying out of Blackbushe Airport! This is your chance to experience flying in a modern lights sports aircraft with an expert pilot at the helm. You'll even get the chance to have a go at the controls yourself during your flight. This microlight training school in Camberley at Blackbushe General Aviation Airport is headed up by Eric who is a highly experienced pilot. He literally has thousands of flying hours under his belt having flown light aircraft hang gliders and microlights in the UK and South Africa. Eric loves nothing more than taking guests up for their first taste of microlighting from Camberley. You'll be flying in the school's Aerospool WT9 Dynamic which is a high-performance low-wing microlight with a fully-enclosed cockpit. This low-wing aircraft offers excellent visibility thanks to the bubble canopy and inside it's a side-by-side configuration. This is great as it means that you can observe what the pilot is doing at all times. As the WT9 is dual-controlled you too will be sitting in front of your own control column. That means that once you're airborne and flying straight and level it could very well be your turn at the controls. And we have to say there's nothing quite like the moment you first flew a microlight. This is actually you at the helm as you cruise over the Surrey countryside. Pretty amazing stuff eh? Of course there's a lot to learn if you want to actually become a microlight pilot but these experiences in Camberley do count towards your training log book. And even if you have no ambitions on that front actually flying this sporty little aircraft on your very first sortie is totally thrilling. We are offering 30 and 60-minute flights out of the lovely Blackbushe Airport. Well-situated near the M3 and easily accessible from the likes of Farnborough Bracknell Basingstoke and beyond microlighting with this Camberley-based operator is a great choice to get you airborne in a superb little plane.

Based near Welshpool this training centre boasts two different types of microlight. The Ikarus C42 is a popular trainer aircraft renowned for being easy to fly stable and comfortable too. It's a closed-cockpit microlight with a high wing which looks more like your typical Cessna-type light aircraft but it is still classed as a microlight. That's because it comes in at under the 450kg weight limit thanks to the incredibly simple tubular aluminium weight-saving frame. The other microlight based at Mid Wales is the Eurostar EV97. The low-wing design gives this light aircraft a very sporty look. Czech designed and built the Eurostar cruises effortlessly at 90mph with two passengers on board. And in fact you can easily go cross...

Fun and affordable microlighting in Berkshire! This small and friendly club offers a choice of microlight flight options out of Membury Airfield. Easy to get to from all over Berkshire and beyond this is a great place to take your first flight in a microlight aircraft. Membury was a busy USAAF and later RAF station. Once the war was over the airfield was privatised and much of the land turned back to agricultural use but there was still a thriving General Aviation scene and that remains today at this strategically-positioned airfield between Reading and Swindon. Microlight flights are operated in either fixed-wing closed cockpit or flex-wing open cockpit aircraft. The choice is yours. Will you get back to the grass roots of the sport and don your flying suit for a flight in the flex-wing? Or will you stay nice and cosy in the closed cockpit of the fixed wing? Both offer very different experiences for you as a passenger but both are brilliant in their own way! Indeed the instructo...

Mark is hugely experienced when it comes to flying these flex wing machines. When he's not zooming around th...
Book your flights in microlights over south Somerset! Operating out of the lovely Henstridge Airfield we are offering 30 45 and 60-minute flights as well as a landaway special to the Isle of Wight via the coast.
These microlight experiences boast quite possibly the most scenic flight paths we have on our books. There’s just so much to see from the air around this delightful corner of south Somerset. Head inland and you’ve got Longleat and the Wiltshire Hills. Fly west and you can look down on the Somerset Levels and Glastonbury Tor. Take a southerly direction and you’re soon at the Jurassic Coast.
/>The amazing scenery and optimal flying conditions are also what attracted Chief Flying Instructor Ian MacAdam to set up his microlight flying school at Henstridge. Ian has been flying hang gliders and microlights since 1987 and he settled in South Somerset in 2002.
Since 2007 Ian has been a main agent for leading flex-wing microlight manufacturer P&M. If you go for the flex-wing option you’ll more than likely be taking your lesson in one of the school’s GT450 microlights. This is open-to-the-elements microlighting at its best so it’s flight suit on headset on and get ready to swoop over stunning south Somerset with excellent all-round visibility from your seat.
If you opt for a fixed-wing flight you’ll be in a closed cockpit aircraft which resembles your typical light aircraft. Admittedly it’s more comfortable and warmer in there but we can’t deny there’s something quite special about the open cockpit option!
/>All experiences are treated as actual lessons so you’ll follow the NPPL(M) syllabus which is the official microlight pilot’s training programme. That means you’ll learn how these machines fly how the controls work and have a go at flying yourself. If you want to get a deeper insight into these machines we can highly recommend the landaway day. You cruise along the coast and across the water to the Isle of Wight landing at a local airfield for lunch before heading back to Henstridge.
/>With a choice of flex or fixed wing aircraft and a full range of flight durations it’s also good to know you can fly all year round out of Henstridge Airfield. Blue skies and beaches in summer and silky smooth air with low winds in autumn and winter - that’s the beauty of flights in microlights in south Somerset!

There's the former satellite ground station right at the heart of the airfield the original war time hangers and control tower whilst on the horizon you'll see the likes of Loch Leven and the Lomond Hills. It's little wonder then that the team here at Kinross recommends you bring a camera along with you for your flight. You get an excellent viewpoint from the cockpit of a microlight so it's possible to take some great snaps as you fly - brilliant if you live in the Perth and Kinross as it's rare to see it all from above! It's a small and friendly crew here at Balado Park. The academy's offices are in the restored control tower and there's a warm and welcoming pilot's lounge where the kettle is always on for a brew. Friends and family will love it too as they can climb the exterior steps to the viewing platform at the top of the tower to look out across the whole airfield -ideal for watching your take off and landing. Before you head out to the apron you'll be kitted out with a headset a flying suit and given gloves if it's going to be a bit chilly up there even if the microlights based at Kinross do have closed cockpits as the weather several thousand feet heigh can be very different to on the ground at the same moment.During the pre-flight briefing you'll chat about safety and what you're hoping to get out of your flight; that's to say whether you want it to take the form of an actual lesson or you want to fly over a specific area so you can see it from the air.We think Scotland's Balado Park is a lovely place to fly out of in a microlight. We are offering 30 minute flights. Book microlighting in Kinross and make a budding Scottish aviator very happy!
With such beautiful countryside all around these microlight flights over Bath are certainly going to be scenic! Hop onboard for that 'at one with nature' feel to your flying when you take an open-cockpit microlight lesson at this private airfield near Bath. Just a few miles south of the tourist hot-spot that is Bath you'll find the delightful Norton St Philip. Unashamedly rural the area is very much agricultural with a distinctive village feel. Right on the periphery of it all is the Brown Shutters Farm. Hidden behind the farmstead is a very small and very discreet private airstrip - and this is where you'll be going microlighting. Local legend has it that the dual grass runway airfield was created by a Mr Newbigin in 1988 to house his beloved Tiger Moth. He's massively passionate about flying his microlights over the...
Fun flexwing microlighting near Nottingham! occupying a discrete little flying field not far from Ilkeston this is a great place to go microlighting. And there's none of that enclosed cockpit business going on here this is grass roots flex-wing open- cockpit aviation at its very best! With big cities like Nottingham Derby and bustling Ilkeston town all nearby you'd be forgiven for thinking this airfield was in the middle of a build-up area. But it's not. This is where the industrial heritage of the East Midlands meets the tranquility of the Derbyshire Dales. It's a true lovely part of the country and very much merits being flown over in a microlight. These ultralight planes are superb for exploring town and countryside. They're small and light so don't need much of a runway to take off. They have a pleasant cruise speed of around 80mph and with a full tank of fuel you can go for around 300 miles. They're the most economical way to get airborne and a great way to really get to see the highlights of Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire in a very short space of time when you fly out of Ilkeston. All that means you can get longer in the air in a microlight for the price of a shorter lesson in a traditional light aircraft. This operator does offer a 30 minute flight and it's highly recommended for those of you who just want to dip your toes into this whirly world of open-cockpit tricycle-style microlighting. You stay local perhaps seeing Shipley Country Park the golf course at Morley Hayes and beyond Ilkeston centre to the snaking traffic on the M1. The more adventurous amongst you will love the 60 minute microlight flight. Setting off from this airstrip at West Hallam near Ilkeston means you're in the air long enough to do Carsington Water to the west or perhaps follow the River Derwent to the north and even lovely Chatsworth House and estate. On the 90-minute itinerary you'll be treated to a flight path filled with fabulous things to see from the Tors of the Hope Valley to those iconic towers of the Derwent 'Dam Busters' Dam and lots more. Take those brilliant things to see from the air combine that with the thrill of flying in an open-cockpit flexed-wing aircraft and you've lined yourself up some magnificent microlighting near Nottingham. You might even get to have a go at the controls whilst you up there!
Go microlighting in East Anglia! Based at Beccles Airfield on the Norfolk and Suffolk border this small and friendly flying school is a joy to visit surrounded by quiet countryside and lots of unrestricted airspace. Known locally as Ellough Airfield Beccles was built as an RAF station in the Second World War being occupied by RAF Bomber and Coastal Command. And in fact Beccles was used as an air sea rescue post until its closure in 1945. It all went quiet in this tranquil corner of East Anglia until 1965 when Beccles became a heliport for North Sea oil operations. Since then the General Aviation activities that include helicopters light aircraft parachuting and now microlighting has kept Beccles Aerodrome busy. For your microlighting lesson there are two (technically speaking) very similar aircraft available. Both come in at under 450kg so are classed as microlights. Both have the same size engine and both seat two people. But take one look at the flex wing microlight next...
Introducing the Sherwood Ranger - a sporting biplane like no other! This wonderfully retro-styled aircraft looks just like the vintage biplanes of old yet it's brand new and built with all modern technology and materials. This is your chance to experience this amazing Sherwood biplane for yourself. At first glance the Sherwood Ranger looks like your typical vintage two seater tail-dragger biplane. Look more closely and you'll soon see this is totally new plane - and it's a microlight! Yep incredibly this aircraft is officially classed as microlight as even with two passengers onboard it still comes in under the 450kg weight limit. Hats off to the designers and manufacturers on this. Who'd have thought you could construct an airworthy modern biplane in such a way? It's all down to the choice of materials. Sherwood Rangers boast an aluminium tube frame with wood and fabric making it light and agile in flight. And you will be finding all this out for yourself with these very special Sherwood biplane experiences which include the opportunity to take the controls too. Unique to Membury Airfield this is the only place in the UK currently offering flights in these fantastic modern biplanes. They are truly superb to fly in. With that open-cockpit feel and the wind whistling through the wing struts it's like being back in a bygone age of aviation but without all the hefty restoration costs! One other huge advantage over traditional biplanes is the fact that the Sherwood Ranger has a totally modern control system designed to handle with precision. Pitch is controlled by the tail elevator yaw by the fin-mounted rudder and roll by the four ailerons and it's all driven by a modern power unit offering an incredible power to weight ratio. Depending on the model the Rangers can easily cruise at 75mph with single seaters boasting a climb rate of 1450ft/min. British-based manufacturers The Light Aircraft Company lovingly hand-builds every single Sherwood Ranger. The aim (and we"e) is to 'create quality aircraft that incorporate safety performance style and value for money using innovative production methods materials and design'. We think they've certainly done just that with the brilliant two-seat Sherwood Ranger so book your flight now for a modern all together lighter take on biplane flying!

Westonzoyland Airfield is your departure point for these microlighting flights over Somerset - and it's a fascinating place in the heart of a picturesque county.Having opened in the early 1920s Westonzoyland is one of the country's oldest airfields. It has served as both RAF and USAAF air bases when the skies around the airfield were filled with the sound of Spitfires Hurricanes and Harvards during the Second World War. Since closing in 1968 the airfield has been returned to agricultural use and main runway has been turned back into the main road through the area…but in amongst all that there's still a very active microlighting presence! Microlighting in County Durham - an irresistible combination of wonderful sights to see from the air a private airfield that's never too busy and a wonderful little aircraft to fly in! Whether it's your first time ever in small plane and you fancy a taster or you want to indulge in an extended experience we've got the lesson for you. This microlighting school is based at Shotton Airfield. The farm airstrip is a true hidden gem for aviators in County Durham. It's easily accessible from all over Tyneside and Teesside being just 10 miles east of Durham city centre. Despite it's central location it's unrestricted air space around Shotton so it's a great place to get airborne with very little other aerial traffic. Shotton has served as a drop zone for a local parachute school since 1987 and this microlight school is a welcome addition to the flying community here in this quiet corner of County Durham and this operator flies microlights from sunrise to sunset seven days a week. So now you know a little bit more about this air strip between Durham and Hartlepool what about the microlights? This centre uses the funky little Flight Design CT - a popular trainer and touring microlight that looks just like your usual light aircraft except that being so light means you can cover 500 miles or more with one tank of fuel. They are also incredibly easy to fly. Our Co Durham crew has most definitely put safety first as well by investing in onboard systems such as the digital avionics system (a modern alternative to dials and gauges) the large screen colour GPS transponders and even a Ballistic Recovery System which is basically a parachute for the whole aircraft! Whilst this all makes it sound quite high-tech none of it takes away from the pilot experience. This closed-cockpit style microlight is still highly interactive intuitive and a real pleasure to fly. No wonder the National Private Pilot's Licence with microlight class rating is the most popular form of licence not just in Co Durham but the whole of the UK. We have several ways to go microlighting over County Durham. Dip your toe in the fascinating world of general aviation with a 30 minute trial lesson take a longer flight path with a 60 or 90 minute flight or head way beyond Durham with a flyway experience that sees you touch down at a friendly airport with time for a break before heading back to base at Shotton Airfield.
