Learn to Play Polo Lincolnshire
Learn To Play Polo
Lincolnshire
    If you've always wanted
to learn to play polo but
    have never even held a
    mallet before these polo
    experiences in
    Lincolnshire are for you!
    We are offering a
    two-hour taster and a
    full day polo workshop to
    teach you all the basics
    of this most noble of
    sports on horseback. The
    first question beginners
    always ask about learning
polo is if you have to be
    an accomplished horse
    rider. The answer is no
    as the the skills you
    need to develop to play
    polo are quite different
    to the traditional
    English style of horse
    riding so everyone from
    total beginners to those
    with riding experience
    are very welcome.
    Learning to play polo
    starts on the ground as
    you are shown the polo
    swing on foot. Once
    you've got the four
    essential types of shot
    sorted it's time to learn
    the polo riding
    techniques. Time to meet
    your Argentinian polo
    pony who'll be your
    trusty mount. As well as
    the fast and furious
    match ponies this polo
    school has calmer
    training ponies so you'll
    be building confidence as
    you ride. The next stage
of your polo lesson is to
    combine the two sessions.
    You'll be on horseback
    doing some 'stick and
    ball' manoeuvres where
    you ride and hit the
    white polo ball. This all
    takes coordination and
    concentration but with
    the wise words of the
    professional instructor
    to teach and encourage
you you can hope to be
    assertively striking the
    ball. For those on the
    two-hour taster your
    experience rounds off at
    this stage. Pupils on the
    full day course cover all
    the same skills in the
    morning and break for a
    convivial BBQ lunch
    (there are excellent
    facilities at this
    renowned Leadenham polo
    club including clubhouse
    and hot tub!). Refuelled
    and ready the afternoon
    session of the full day
    polo experience will be
    spent learning the rules
    of polo play. You'll then
    head out to that
    perfectly levelled and
    maintained polo field to
    play your very first
    chukka (that's a period
of play in polo - see
    you're even sounding like
    a polo player now!).

Jump In Trampoline Arenas
Jump In Trampoline Arenas
    Get into the groove and
    bounce bounce bounce at a
    trampoline arena! These
    huge indoor parks are
    really capturing the
    imagination of the nation
    allowing you to go
    jumping bouncing and
    boinging your way around
    on and over a multitude
    of modules. It's time to
    get the spring back into
    your life! There are
    trampoline parks and then
    there are trampoline
    arenas. To be classed as
    an arena the jump park
has to cover at least 30
    000 square feet - and
    that's just the category
    we're talking about here
    for these experiences.
    Quite frankly these
    places are vast. When you
    walk in for the first
    time you're bound to look
    around wide-eyed in awe
    at it all. With
    brilliantly vivid colours
    and funky lighting they
    are dazzling bright and
    fantastic too. So much
    more fun and inviting
    than your usual fitness
    gym the wonderful world
    of trampolining
    successfully gives you a
    physical workout whilst
    having the most fun
    you've had since you went
    on a baby trampoline at
    the seaside all those
    years ago. What's more
    these indoor trampoline
    arenas actively welcome
all ages so you can amaze
    the kids with your fancy
    somersault moves…or
    perhaps you'll just
    embarrassingly bounce
    everywhere like a
    supercharged grinning
    Tigger? And if you're
    thinking a big warehouse
    full of trampolines
    doesn't actually sound
    that exciting think
    again. The arenas are
    filled with vertical and
    horizontal bouncers and a
    whole lot more. There are
    bounce-able basketball
    corners balance beam
    battles foam pits and
    rope swings. There's even
    a trampoline run where
    you can practice your
    floor gymnastics à la
    Beth Tweddle or just love
    the sensation of running
    along on a massively
    springy surface! We
    reckon with these
    trampoline arenas
    springing up around the
    country it's time to
    ditch the gym membership
    gather the family and go
    for a bouncing session
    together. Or maybe get a
group of 'up for it' work
    mates sorted buy your
    vouchers and get the
    boing going. What's more
    your voucher includes a
    bottle of water (it's
    thirsty work all that
    leaping around) and a
    pair of special
    trampolining grippy socks
    that are yours to keep.

Bespoke Cricket Bat Experience
Bespoke Cricket Bat Experience
    The secrets of how to
    make a cricket bat are
    revealed on this Bespoke
    Cricket Bat Experience -
    fabricated in front of
    you just for you! This
    amazing experience is
truly a one off as you
    will visit the master
    craftsmen at the
    Millichamp & Hall
    workshop in the heart of
    the Somerset Country
    Cricket Ground in Taunton
    to see your own
    personalised cricket bat
    design being made and be
    involved in each step of
    the process.The company
    started out in 1987 when
    founders Julian
    Millichamp and Jonathan
Hall set up in a sport
    shop and workshop in
    Perth Australia. There
    using a range of vintage
    drawknives and
    spokeshaves they lovingly
    crafted clefts (blocks)
    of willow wood into the
    blades of their first
    made to order cricket
    bats. After returning to
    Somerset the winning
    partnership continued
    with a clear focus on
    quality materials and
    providing a personal
    service which allows you
    to custom design your own
    cricket bat to match your
    batting preferences.Their
    commitment to excellence
    was soon recognised and
    rewarded when several of
    the cricketers from the
    Australian test squad
    purchased bats to use in
    the Ashes Tour of 1989
    resulting in the Aussie
    underdogs skillfully
    defended their wicket
    taking match wins at
    Headingly Lords Edgbaston
    Old Trafford Trent Bridge
    and The Oval. For the
    England team it was a
    stump crushing disaster
    but the status of
    Millichamp and Hall as
    quality winning bat
    makers was sealed.The
    design and and
    manufacture is an art
    form and ancient
    tradition which requires
    a number of key build
    stages. The blade of each
    cricket bat is made from
    a cleft of 'Cricket Bat
    Willow' (Salix Alba
    Caurelea) before being
    dried formed and rolled
    into shape with loads of
    up to two tonnes per
    square inch. Once the
    characteristics of the
    face and sides are
    determined the
    distinctive V shape or
splice is then cut at the
    shoulder in readiness to
    accept the handle. The
    final shaping and
    balancing is where the
    real effort and skill
    comes in with every
    aspect of the final
    product being checked and
    finessed. You will be
    able to chat with the
    master bat maker to
    discuss your needs and
    select your wood paying
    attention to the grading
    and the grain. Then
    you'll learn how weight
    and length affect the
    profile and pitch of your
    cricket bat whilst it's
    being made before the
    finish wax and polish
    adds the finishing
    touches to the blade -
and all this to your own
    precise
    specifications.Learning
how to make a cricket bat
    is a must-do for all
    serious cricket fans.
    There can be nothing more
    special than having your
    very own high-quality
    Millichamp & Hall cricket
bat made just for you. We
    can't guarantee you'll be
    hitting century innings
    with the finished item
    but we're sure they'll be
    nothing more satisfying
    than the sound of leather
    ball on the willow of
    your cricket bat that has
    been designed to your own
    requirements.

Golf in the Glencoe Valley
Golf In The Glencoe Valley
    Tee off in the Highlands
    with a round of Glencoe
    golf! The Dragon's Tooth
    golf course is just
    lovely. It's right in the
    heart of the West
    Highlands of Scotland at
    the foot of the mighty
    Glencoe Valley. This
    course has been
    beautifully nurtured
    since 2002 and offers a
    fun course with stunning
    views.Now you might think
    a golf course in the
    hilly Lochaber region
    would mean slogging up
    steep hills to reach the
    greens. Far from it at
    Dragon's Tooth. Very
    skilfully thought out by
    golf course designer Rob
    Hisemen (whose portfolio
    also includes the
    prestigious Royal Golf
    Club at Riffa Views in
    Bahrain with Colin
    Montgomerie) the greens
    make the most of the
    natural lay of the land
    to create what is
    actually a gentle
    meandering course on
    undulating land. What
    strikes any golfer teeing
    off here at Dragon's
    Tooth is the vistas from
    the elevated greens. The
    fairways seem to plunge
    into the shores of Loch
    Linnhe framed by the Ben
    Vhair mountain range
    beyond. And indeed there
    are lots of golf...

    martial arts which are
    seeing a huge resurgence
    in popularity. After all
    it's not just the Far
    East that has its culture
    of martial arts - any
    country that has engaged
    in combat will have its
    own style of martial art.
    This school specialises
    in 14th century European
    martial arts from Italy
    as well as Edward
    Barton-Wright's late 19th
    century discipline of
    Bartitsu. The HEMA
    workshop take you through
    the basics of swordplay
as it was done in the
    14th Century teaching you
    the basic cuts and the
    first series of
    interlinked techniques
    for attack and defence
    with a long sword. The
    sword fighting skills
    taught during these HEMA
    classes have been
    resurrected from the
    study of historical
    documents and manuscripts
    of Flore Dei Liberi
    bringing the old European
    fighting style from Italy
    back to life in Brum.
    Liberi had a 40-year
    career as a sword master
    during which he nor
    anyone he taught was ever
    defeated in single
    combat. The Bartitsu
    training is faithful to
    creator Barton-Wright's
    teachings of his combined
    self-defence martial art
    from the Victorian era.
    Bartitsu was immortalised
    by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
    with his hero Sherlock
    Holmes using the combat
    skills to fend off arch
    rival Moriarty at
    Reichenbach Falls in
    Switzerland in his 'The
    Adventure of the Empty
    House' story. Bartitsu
    has also been used in
    several of the recent
    Sherlock films so there's
    a definite revival of
    Holmes' martial arts! For
    the Bartitsu workshops
    it's all about your hands
    and feet with a little
    help from the ultimate
    London gentleman's
    accessory - a walking
    stick or an umbrella. Yes
    both workshops sound
    pretty flamboyant don't
    they? But in reality they
    are both also excellent
    self-defence and fitness
    training - and pretty
    fascinating at the same
    time too. During your
    two-hour sessions you
    will learn the basic
    skills of your chosen
    historical European
    martial arts style. Just
    bring along yourself with
    a willingness to learn
    and get physical with
    those fighting hands and
    feet in this safe and
    controlled Western
    martial arts environment.

    warrior when you go
    fencing in Sunderland!
    These lessons take place
    in a purpose-built
    adventure sports centre
    in Roker where specialist
    fencing instructors will
be on hand to show you
    the basics of this most
    chivalrous of sports.
    Fencing is an excellent
    work out for both mind
    and body. An intense
    fencing match can burn up
    to 400 calories and gives
    you core strength muscle
    training and a
    masterclass in balance
    coordination and even
    tactical thinking. It's
    all about having the
    moves to outwit your
    opponent and managing
    your concentration and
    focus. These taster
    lessons are designed to
    give you an insight in
    the the world of fencing.
    To master it takes a
    lifetime and there are
    lots of rules and
    regulations to learn in
    competitive fencing but
    these sessions offer you
the chance to 'have a go'
and get a feel for what
    facing your opponent
    feels like. There are
    three different types of
    fencing weapon namely the
    foil the sabre and the
    epee. All come in both
    adult and smaller sizes
    for mini fencers (this
    Sunderland school accepts
    those from aged six
    upwards) and in left or
    right-handed versions
    too. The protective gear
you need to fence is also
    included as part of your
lesson - so you just need
    to bring yourself and
    your wits! One essential
    thing that all fencers
    learn early on is the
    tradition of handshakes
    and saluting your
    opponent before a bout.
    These all hark back to
    the aristocratic origins
    of the sport whilst
    reflecting the discipline
    fencing commands. Having
    saluted it's time to be
    on guard step lunge and
    take part in a few
    parries with your
    partner. Great fun for
    all ages we are offering
    fencing lessons in
    Sunderland for two to
    four people. Under the
    watchful eye of the
    fencing instructors
    you'll get a superb
    introduction to the sport
    during your two hour
    lesson. Breeches and
    jackets on it's time to
    fence!
