Thrilling Harvard flights over the Essex skies! This is your chance to climb aboard a vintage Harvard & fly out of Earls Colne airfield near Colchester for a truly exhilarating warbird experience that is sure to take your breath away. This Harvard is a genuine World War Two veteran. Having been built in Dallas Texas in 1942 this Texan trainer first served with the US Air Force. She was then down to be transferred to the RAF as a Harvard IIA but somehow ended up being amongst a shipment of 436 aircraft destined for the South African Air Force. & that's where she stayed working as a fighter trainer until 1969. This time she was sent to serve with the Portuguese Air Force until 1978 when she was decommissioned. By 1979 this well-travelled plane had reached British shores where she was re-registered as G-TSIX (nice choice!). Passing through various ownerships G-TSIX has been a regular feature at fly-ins fly pasts & air shows for many years resplendent in her US Navy Trainer colours. Now settled at Earls Colne airfield just outside Colchester this delightful Harvard flies vintage aviation enthusiasts in the skies above Essex on these fabulous flights. We have selected a range of experiences
- all of which include a comprehensive 30-minute pre-flight briefing & plenty of time to get to know this wonderful aircraft. You'll be kitted out in a full RAF-style flying suit for your Harvard flight. Your pilot in Earls Colne will be Nigel Willson the flying school's chief pilot. He is massively experienced when it comes to flying these magnificent warbirds & is an accomplished display pilot & organiser. & in fact we are offering a taste of those display pilot skills with an aerobatics add-on to give the standard 20-minute flight that extra G-force thrill! As well as the full-range of single flight durations we also offer the rather special Duxford day out. This is a landaway experience where you'll take off from Earls Colne in the Harvard fly across Essex to Duxford then explore the wonderful museum for a couple of hours before heading back in the Harvard to base for tea. All very civilised! If you love your vintage aviation you will love these Harvard flights in Essex. Buy your voucher book your slot & get ready to fly in this genuine WW2 fighter trainer.

Rotary fun for the pair of you on a helicopter flight for two! As you take a lesson your invitee rides in the helicopter as a passenger. & with the extra touch of a box of chocolates & a flute of bubbles included it all makes for one romantic helicopter ride for the two of you. These 30 minute experience helicopter flights for two are operated out of Elstree Aerodrome using a Robinson R44. It's a rather nifty four seater machine so there's plenty of room for both of you & the all-important instructor too which is quite convenient & pretty essential! So first things first. On arrival you'll meet your helicopter pilot host for this ride for two. This is a pretty buzzing aerodrome just on the cusp of the London skyline so there's aways a fair amount of take offs & landings going on. After a safety & technical ground briefing the two of you will then head out to the helipad to meet your R44. These are one of the world's most popular helis with a reputation for being robust reliable & easy to fly. If you've never flown in any type of helicopter before the two of you will be pretty excited pre-take off as final checks are done the rotor blades start turning. As soon as you get airborne you get an immediate visual on just where you are in the country. There's the busy M1 motorway. & just below you check out Hilford Park Reservoir. As your chopper turns you might find yourselves heading over the likes of the Warner Bros & Elstree studios. Then before you know it there's that London town on the horizon! Whilst your passenger is enjoying the local sights from your elevated look-out of the helicopter you're not just here for the ride
- you're here to fly. & this is the moment you will be handed the controls. Savour the moment you turned from helicopter rider to helicopter driver
- it's going to feel special that's for sure. Which is also why when you get back down on the ground there'll be a little presentation & a toast to the two of you. Time to crack open the box of chocs & sip the (non-alcoholic) fizz as a celebration of the day you both went on a helicopter flight for two from Elstree Aerodrome.

Helicopter flights over London in a swanky executive chopper! This has got to be one of the very best ways to see the sights of London from the air. Leaving in a helicopter from your choice of three helipads your flight will take your right over the heart of London & beyond. The helicopters used for these flights are renowned for being amongst the world's most comfortable & reliable aircraft & as you might expect the view of London from the cabin windows are excellent. In total each flight in these helicopters will last around 30 minutes giving you ample of time to take photos of London as you look down on everything the ' Big Smoke' has to offer. There are different rendezvous points for this experience with venues in Essex & Surrey that are easy to reach from both central London & surrounding counties. Once all passengers are comfortable the rotor blades will start up & you'll rise gracefully yet powerfully into the air. As the greenery of the suburbs gives way to the modern skyscrapers & historic buildings of London your helicopter flight will hover over & then follow the curve of the River Thames so you can get a good look at this whole riverside area from the Thames Barrier up to the Houses of Parliament. Return flights will follow a similar route over London so no matter which side of the helicopter you are seated you'll miss nothing of the city's splendour. In fact we can safely say that this sightseeing flight by helicopter ranks with the best in the world & that it certainly has the 'wow' factor. Helicopter flights over London are available from spring through to autumn & London's best can be enjoyed from the air by anyone aged six or over. Take helicopter lessons in Sheffield & you'll be learning your rotary skills in amongst the big boys! This regional airport handles hundreds of thousands of passengers each year but is also home to the airfield's only helicopter school offering flights over the Sheffield area & beyond. Doncaster Sheffield International Airport formerly known as Robin Hood Airport is steeped in aviation history & is a fascinating place. Formerly RAF Finningley the airport was a designated long-range nuclear bomber base. You can still see the evidence of all its military importance with the five very huge Cold War hangars that housed Vulcan bombers. This is also the reason why the runway measuring up at an impressive 2.8km is so long. All that means that Robin Hood airport can accept all manner of flights from wide-bodied jet liners to the Space Shuttle. Yes you did read that correctly. Doncaster Sheffield's airport was designated as an emergency NASA landing site. Let's just hope you won't be delayed by any errant spacecraft on your helicopter lesson! Hosting your day & flying the flag for rotary aviation is Captain Matt Rake who has many many years of experience as both a commercial helicopter pilot & flying instructor. He's flown all sorts of different choppers from Air Ambulances in the Middle East to off-shore oil rig flights over the North Sea. Now he is based here in Doncaster Sheffield at this fabulous facility & he loves nothing more than to introduce newbies to the wonderful world of helicopter flying. Friendly professional & enthusiastic you're sure to have fun with Matt & the team as you soar over the sights of Sheffield with you at the controls of the heli.
