Nothing beats driving solo around a track & on this single seater driving experience you'll be doing just that around a challenging purpose-built circuits. So pop your racing helmet on get ready on the start grid & follow those chequered flag dreams! The day you get to drive a single seater starts with familiarisation laps in a performance training car to give you valuable experience of the track so you can drive every corner & curve of the route. Your instructor sitting in the front passenger seat will explain the best way of making smooth rapid progress around the track in readiness for your main 'single-handed' event. You then advance into the world of single seaters finding yourself strapped into the stripped out cockpit of a legendary race tuned 1800cc Formula Ford. These open wheeled racers weigh next to nothing & have handling that's way beyond what you'll have ever experienced before. All current Formula One drivers started their careers going head to head in cars just like this
- now it's your turn. As you head out onto the track you'll have to adjust pretty quickly to the fact that it's just you & the single seater out there
- there's no room for co-pilots or passengers in these single seater machines. You probably won't remember much from your familiarisation laps as you're bound to be concentrating hard on just keeping a controlled lid on all that amazing power under foot but soon you'll get into the rhythm of it all hopefully getting faster & smoother on each lap. At the end of your single seater driving experience you will be presented with an individual driving assessment & personalised certificate. If you're looking for an unusual & memorable gift idea then one of our racing gift vouchers may fit the bill nicely. Please view our main page for the full range of racing car gifts using an Intothe Blue voucher or if you are looking for a present for a husband dad son or men in general then our gifts for men section has a great selection of ideas that will be sure to fit the bill..

Join a genuine motorsport racing team for a thrilling single seater track drive! These experiences use fully prepped cars that are being driven in the current Formula Renault & Formula Ford Championships in the UK giving you one of the most authentic days out on the circuit possible. It's a case of 'move over team drivers it's time to give us amateurs a go!' when you get your hands on the steering wheel of a genuine racing machine. The Renault single seater has a Tatuus chassis & a 2 litre Renault Clio engine inside. Now that may not sound very impressive but when we tell you these things do 0-60mph in just 2.7 seconds & can get to 100mph in less then five we think you'll agree the stats speak for themselves. The Formula Ford open-wheeler is a very similar beast when it comes to lap times & acceleration. Underneath those wings & attached to those slicks is a Sinter chassis developed in close partnership with the race team that hosts these single seat track days. Inside it's all very F1 with six-speed sequential gear box & yes there's even space for an onboard camera to capture your every move (images of which are included in the Gold experience package). The engine in these beasts is 1.6 litre turbo just like Lewis Hamilton's F1 car! & at almost 200bhp they're well on the way to giving you the best idea of what it's like to be him! So what can you expect on your single seater experience day? First up you need to have a safety briefing & then get yourself kitted out in a race suit & full face helmet. Then you have to get fitted into the seat. This is because proper racing seats are how can we put it rather snug (hence the height restrictions of 5ft-6ft 4") & they need to be to stop you being buffeted & knocked around whilst you drive. And remember these are actual race cars used in the current Ford & Renault single seater driving Championship & these track days are run by one of the motorsport teams competing in the series so by participating in a single seater track day you will get an insight into just how a professional team is run as it supports young hopefuls as they drive their way up through the ranks of FIA-approved motor racing. ...

Here's a new twist on skid training! This well-established driving school centre in Shropshire uses a unique skid area featuring a very special surface that makes skidding easy. There are no cradles on the skid car or fancy gadgetry that way (with your expert training) it means you learn easily all about when skids happen & how to control them from speeds as gentle as 5mph. This skid car training experience is offered for one or two people & both packages give you plenty of training in the hot seat with the instructor & for skidding duos when you're not driving you can be a passenger in the car. All sessions are offered as exclusive lessons so you will have the undivided attention of the Grade Six advanced driving instructor & there's no hanging around waiting for your turn. Of course experiencing your first skid can be scary & often most people's first skid on roads is actually down to driver error so much better to be doing it at a training ground under controlled conditions with an expert driving instructor sitting next to you to show you what to do. & don't forget the session is as much about fun out there on the pan as it is about learning some vital motoring skills. Thanks to that specially prepared surface you can learn to control a skid at very slow speeds to gain confidence before building up to higher speeds to really test your training at the wheel of the skid car. So no need to feel anxious & believe us by the end of the session you will feel rightly quite proud of yourself that you will leave knowing just what to do when you skid
- although we don't advise doing skids on the way home in your own car if you can help it! Although skid training is typically seen as a gifts for men experience they are equally suitable for women too as driving is not just a man's domain these days (thankfully!) & you'll be trained in everything from locked wheels to tyre blows out on these experiences at this family run centre in Oswestry.

Experience front & rear wheel drive action on this Skid Pan Day in Suffolk! This low-grip skid pan at the driving facility near Bury St Edmunds gives you the opportunity to get skidding & sliding in total safety for half a day's fun as part of a small group experience. Throughout the course of these thrilling days you will take out two different vehicles onto the pan for skids & slides
- a front wheel drive hatchback & a larger rear wheel driven saloon. The difference in the way these two cars behave is pretty impressive & each requires a certain technique to be able to control & recover as you go slewing off course. As well as skidding on the pan on the day you will also learn about emergency braking as part of the same experience because you never know when you might need to stop as quickly & safely as possible. What's good about the whole experience of being out on the skid pan for a few hours of the day is that you are in a small group which means there is plenty of banter & encouragement with your fellow skitters. As the course progresses so too will your understanding of how vehicles (and drivers) tend to naturally react & how to reverse that whole process so you are safe in a slide. Of course the main focus on this skid pan day is enjoying the thrills but the skills you will learn whilst you're flinging the cars around this slippery surface in Suffolk will also put you in very good stead when driving your own car on wet snowy or icy weather days. & with training from a ex & serving military & police driving instructors you can be sure of plenty of top tips from experts who have trained hundreds of drivers to advanced level.

Skid Control In Essex

This Essex skid control centre at North Weald Airfield near Epping has been instructing drivers for well over 20 years. Under their expert tuition you will have fun but most importantly you'll learn valuable skills in a car that could save lives once you're back out driving on the public roads. The two hour course is in the heart of Essex (but well away from all the cars on the roads) and will teach you all about skidding. All sessions start with a short briefing before you move out onto the pan in one of the BMW or Ford skid cars. You will share the vehicle with two other drivers each spending around 40 minutes at the wheel rotating through a variety of simulated skids and sliding situations. Skid control cars are standard but they are sitting in cradles which hydraulically lift the
vehicle. The front and rear wheels on the cradle then reproduce loss of traction in different scenarios meaning you will be experiencing what hitting black ice or snow at anything from 10 to 60 mph feels like! The idea is that you'll sweep across the skid area at all angles and speeds discovering what makes you skid how you can avoid it and which way to steer when you feel the car slipping out of control. As these skid specialists will tell you it's all about recognising the behaviour of the car and balancing the steering brakes and throttle in order to regain control. This Essex venue is very well set up for skid training with a large pan and lots of challenges to tackle too. As your skills and confidence increase you will soon be able to push the car through a course combining gates
curves and emergency braking areas whilst maintaining control. In fact you'll find that your reflex action when you start to skid is often the complete opposite to what you should do! Your Essex skid pan experience ends with an overall assessment of your performance and presentation of certificate. Don't forget as well as having fun you'll be learning valuable skills for everyday motoring situations.
