Solent Helicopter Lessons

Soar over the Solent on these helicopter lessons! These helicopter flights operate out of Solent Airport in a superb setting. It's not often you can take off just yards away from the sea with amazing views across the Solent to the Isle of Wight included as an extra bonus. Solent Airport doesn't occupy this coveted location by chance. It opened way back in 1917 as a Royal Navy Air Station. That means it was an on-shore airfield for the Navy where everything from seaplane training and hovercraft testing to ground operation training took place. Over the years many many Naval Air Squadrons have been based here when it was known as HMS Daedalus. These helicopter flights make up just part of the General Aviation traffic seen at Solent Airport today. It's an important base in a strategic area as
this has been designated an enterprise zone in light of the fact that Lee-on-Solent is becoming a bit of a global aerospace hub with various companies located on and around the airfield. That includes this helicopter school which was established in 2009 and has a branch operation at Lee-on-Solent. It's become a favourite base for the pilot instructors to fly out of as it really is quite unique. After all who wouldn't want to hover right over the Solent Waterway with the New Forest in one direction and bustling Portsmouth in the other? You'll see all of this and more from the air on your Solent helicopter lesson. But whilst the views will have you captivated this experience isn't just about looking it's about getting hands-on too. Once airborne and at the required altitude your instructor
pilot will hand the controls over to you and you will be flying the chopper up around the local Solent area. Pretty impressive for a first-time flight in a chopper don't you think? And of course the longer the lesson the longer you get to hone your rotary skills and the further afield you'll venture around this wonderful corner of south Hampshire. With any luck the skies will be blue for your Solent helicopter lesson!
