Join the illustrious Tiger Club for a thrilling Tiger Moth flight experience out of Damyns Hall Aerodrome! This long-established Moth club resides at Greater London's only privately-owned general aviation airfield. Located in Essex just inside the M25 near Upminster it's only 10 miles from central London. What makes your flight over the skies of Essex so special is the Tiger Club itself. It's the stuff of aviation legend with the Tiger Club being formed by a group of friends over a Royal Aero Club dinner in 1956. From the start the intention was to race these wonderful de Havilland dh 82as & excel at sport flying. Originally based out of Croydon the club has moved around a fair bit with stints at Redhill Headcorn & Pent Farm before touching down smoothly at Damyns Hall. The spirit of the club has never waned. What could be more befitting than flying a Tiger Moth plane at the historic home of the Tiger Club! Your experience takes place at Redhill Aerodrome & back in the heyday of civilian flying this airport played a very pivotal role in the flying of Tiger Moths. This airstrip in Surrey was the base of the famous Tiger Club between 1959 & 1990 where pilots honed their aerobatic & formation flying skills to put on impressive displays to wow the crowds all around the country as well as starting air racing competitions. Nothing quiet so daredevil today in your vintage Tiger Moth but on longer plane flights you might be able to (easily) persuade the pilot to pull a couple of moves! The Tiger Moth plane you'll be flying in is G-AKUE one of the rare Portuguese-built De Havilland Tiger Moths. Painted up in a rather fetching dark blue with red & white fuselage stripes this very handsome Tiger Moth dates back to 1939. The plane is well-travelled with stints in Mozambique & Northern Rhodesia where she was known as ' Nokomis' (daughter of the moon) & worked as a general transport provider before somehow heading to the plains of Surrey. This DH82a version of the Tiger Moth is a delightful plane to fly & for all these experiences you'll be kitted out in authentic flying jacket & aviator helmet for a truly nostalgic flight. We are offering various flight durations so there is something to suit every budget from a 15 minute taster to get a feel for what it's like to be in an open cockpit plane to a full 40 minute flight where you'll get great views of the Kent & Surrey countryside. If you buy this experience for any aviation fan we are sure just the fact that they can get up close to a Tiger Moth plane is a thrill in itself let alone actually taking off in one & then even having a go at the controls. We think these Tiger Moth flights in Surrey offer a fantastic day out at an historic airfield that will be cherished by the lucky flyer. Indeed with spectators welcome to join you to watch the take off circuits & landing we're sure it'll be a memorable day out for all the family. ...

Our Tiger Moth in Shoreham flies out of this historic airport near Brighton & Hove the country's oldest licensed public-serving airfield having first opened its runways to air traffic way back in 1910. You could say it's harking back to halcyon days of flight! This Shoreham-based club offers you the choice of flying in a Tiger Moth or a Stampe. Both are classic vintage biplanes & the Belgian-built Stampe is actually based on de Havilland's famous design. One difference is that the it has a tailwheel whereas the Tiger Moth has a tail slide. This means the Moth can only land on dry grass runways whilst the Stampe can use hard surfaces & grass meaning she can fly all year round. This particular post-war model was built in 1946 & served as a sporting trainer. The Tiger Moth is the oldest & longest serving plane here at Shoreham airport. She was delivered to the RAF in 1940 & was used as a trainer & communications aircraft under the serial number NM137. She headed to civvy... ...
