The secret of this energy saving cooking lies in the highly efficient stainless steel pot, the airtight lid & the heat retaining properties of the melamine bowl. Start cooking on the hob in the stainless steel pot – for example vegetables, rice, a chicken breast, a casserole, even fruit. Leave the food to cook on the hob for the required time (see examples below or take a look at the free Hotpan cooking chart) then transfer the lidded stainless steel pot to the coloured melamine bowl & leave on a work surface. The melamine will insulate the heat so that the food will carry on cooking & stay warm for up to 2 hours. As well as being energy & time efficient this soft cooking process helps the food to retain more vitamins & nutrients. Some examples of cooking times with Hotpan:- Carrots, cauliflower, courgettes & leeks – 5 minutes on the hob, 15 minutes in the insulating bowl. Potatoes – 15 minutes on the hob, 30 minutes in the insulating bowl. Rice – 5 minutes on the hob, 25 minutes in the insulating bowl. Lamb casserole – 40 minutes on the hob, 60 minutes in the insulating bowl. Risotto – 5 minutes on the hob, 20 minutes in the insulating bowl.
