The heating requirement of the engine is adapted by a stored parameter profile. It takes into account load, speed, temperature & fuel flow. ISS enables a spontaneous combustion engine key start up to minus 15&176;. At minus 24&176; the preheating time is only 2 seconds. Emission of pollutants is minimised.
