A new 8 year old bottling from a single cask distilled December 2001. Unusually for Bladnoch this a lightly peated release. If the previous cask was anything to go by this should be fabulous whisky. Bladnoch John & Thomas Mc Clelland opened Bladnoch malt whisky Distillery in 1817 on the northern bank of the River Bladnoch at Bladnoch Bridge just upstream from Wigtown in south west Scotl&. Bladnoch Distillery is a small Scottish Lowlands malt whisky distillery & the most southerly of all Scotland’s working distilleries. Closed in 1993 but back in production again in 2000. Bladnoch Distillery is equipped with just two stills, produces peated & unpeated single malt whiskies & fills just a few hundred casks annually. Visitors welcome in the Bladnoch Distillery visitor centre where distillery tours are available. The first impression on the nose of this lightly peated whisky is of a slight smokiness & then just a drop of peat coming through on the palate as it mingles subtley with the traditional lowland flavours.
