In the 18th century, Clos L’ Eglise with its 14 hectares was considered to be a very big domaine for Pomerol, ahead of about a dozen great wines which formed – & still form –the heart of Pomerol. The estate subsequently took the name of Clos LEglise. However, following succession problems, it was split into two with, on the one side, the original Clos L’ Eglise (Rouchut family) & on the other, Clos LEglise-Clinet (Mauleon family). Clos LEglise therefore has a continuous wine-producing tradition spread of several centuries. The colour is dense ruby/violet. The knock-out nose is evolved, but compelling. It has a very defined and ridiculously long finish, and I cannot wait to drink this in 15 years or so. A finer more Bordeaux-like perfection than 2009, it is quite humbling actually.

It has a very defined & ridiculously long finish, & I cannot wait to drink this in 15 years or so. A finer more Bordeaux-like perfection than 2009, it is quite humbling actually.
