The palate is full of fresh fruit character, yet also has richness, weight & length. The nose is typical of Gisborne Chardonnay in an early year. It is a delightful melange of peach, nectarine & melon. As a young wine, this is pale in the glass with pale gold highlights. As the wine ages, the colour will deepen. ...

Coopers Creek - Gisborne Viognier 2010 6x 75cl Bottles

This wine is very pale in its youth, but with time will develop straw and light gold tints. Stonefruit dominates the nose of this wine; peaches, nectarines, apricots. Mingled with this are floral notes (lemon flower and orange flower) backed by gentle spice notes. Viognier is a low acid variety so the palate is broad, rich and weighty. The wine coats the tongue from front to back and side to side and the finish lasts and lasts. The wine is technically dry, but the fruit character is so strong that it gives the appearance of sweetness. This adds to the flavour intensity and length. Vintage 2009 was extraordinarily settled in Gisborne and this allowed us to get stunning flavour development in our Viognier vineyards.
