This wine can be described as cassis with rich, red fruits on the nose, dried herbs, perfume & plum. The palate is soft, silky, with integrated flavour of cigar box & black fruit. The Demorgenzon Maestro Red 2011 was naturally fermented for 12 days, & left on skins for 10-15 days. The varieties were kept separate. Full malolactic fermentation took place in the barrel & it was aged in small French oak for 12 months, with 25% new French oak. This wine is drinking very well now & will improve over the next six years & should last for many more to come. The De Morgenzon Maestro Red is a classic Bordeaux styled blend of 41% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Petit Verdot, 7% Malbec & 6% Cabernet Franc. IWA Award
- Silver 2013. DWWA Award

Very different to the Oaxaca, Derrumbes Michoacan is initially more subtle. Fresh on the nose, you find notes of green apple & runner beans before more perfumed, floral notes appear. These more delicate aromas give way to a pungent sweetness, ripe pears, & notes of pine & a hint of smokiness. On the palate, you initially detect sweet characters, parma violets & honey but these are soon overpowered by a dry spiciness fostered by a stringent smoky character. On the finish, the dryness eventually gives way to a more sweet character that leaves a very pleasant mouthfeel. ...

A bold liquid that leaves a viscous trail around the rim of the glass. On nosing, the first thing you notice is that this is a complex spirit. Initial investigation reveals fresh jasmine & citrus aromas before more pungent notes of acetone, pine & acacia honey are highlighted by a gentle smokiness. Lively on the palate, fresh flavours of citrus & pine combine with a rich sweetness from the agave to give a little spiciness again underlined by a subtle smokiness. The finish is extremely full, with the sweet character combining with the smokiness to make this mezcal very moreish indeed. ...

They are harvested at the end of the summer, when they are completely ripe, an essential requirement for quality. The quantity of fruits used to produce a litre of ' Creme de Mure Desbons' is around 400 grams. The sugar added to the maceration naturally reduces the alcoholic strength, so water does not need to be added, making Desbons Creme de Mures one of the most intense on the market. ...
