This wine's very scented nose is not lacking in character or roundness. We recognize the balance & the harmonious finish of the great white wines of Burgundy. With white fruit & citrus notes, it will evolve with the years & has great cellaring potential. The story tells how the Lord of Puligny divided out his lands between his children, giving his son what became the Chevalier-Montrachet & his daughters inheriting Les Pucelles. Yet the story also tells how he held his illegitimate bastard son in great affection. This son received, in addition to a plot like his half-brother & his two half-sisters, two other plots including the, Bienvenues (Welcome), which in the choice of its name shows the really special endearment the lord had for this child. The h&-picked harvest goes through a short prefermentary maceration first, before being vinified in part in wooden tronconic vats. The wine is then matured in oak barrels for 14 to 16 months, in nineteenth century vaulted cellars which provide ideal conditions for raising wines. The proportion of new oak, which is susceptible to variations according to the vintage, represents on average two thirds of the cuvee. The barrels, which come from high quality barrel makers, have been rigorously selected for their fine grain & light toast.
