A nose that evokes a basket of late summer fruit (mirabelle & quince), a full palate with notes of honey, nougat & brioche, exceptional persistence... The year 2004 was marked by a largely dry & warm spring with satisfactory levels of sunshine. The summer that followed, also hot & dry, gave Didier Mariotti reasons for hope. In September, the exceptional maturity of the grapes confirmed his hunch. & when the first wines were tasted, there was no doubt: 2004 would be a Vintage year. ...

On the nose you get a lot of concentrated fruit flavours ranging from dark fruit to lighter red fruit. The Cabernet Sauvignon gives the wine a structured backbone & the nose follows through elegantly on the palate. The Cabernet Franc combines the big structured Cabernet flavours with the upfront fruit flavours of the Merlot. The palate is very concentrated with an abundance of flavours varying from intense fruit flavours to cigar box nuiances. The flavours & tannins are meticulously woven together to form a totally
- balanced wine that lingers on in your mouth long after the last drop is savoured. This wine, with its velvety tannins will go great with red meat or any savoury dishes.

The wine shows a variety of delicately intertwined flavours ranging from honeysuckle to pineapple. It has a good acidic backbone with sufficient sugar to make this a wine with intense aromas that is well balanced. It is best served chilled & accompanied by flavoursome dishes to bring out all this wine has to offer. A great accompaniment for spicy food. Governor Simon van der Stel granted Muratie to a young German soldier way back in 1685. His name was Laurens Campher & he had a great love of the soil. However, he had an even greater love
- a slave girl named Ansela van de Caab. For 14 years, he'd walk 64 km (a 3-day trip) to see his beloved Ansela. When she was eventually emancipated, Ansela returned as Laurens' wife to Muratie. To this day the oak she planted to bless their marriage still stands... in the same soil Laurens loved so much. With intense flavours ranging from honeysuckle to pineapple, & a sturdy backbone, the Laurens Campher blend pays tribute to this man of mettle, passion & determination. It is a blend of 41% Chenin Blanc, 25% Verdehlo, 18% Viognier & 16% Sauvignon Blanc. All cultivators except the Sauvignon Blanc was barrel fermented but everything was matured in barrel for six months. 30% was first fill barrels & the rest was second & third fill French barrels.
