Deep garnet in colour, with tremendous intensity on the nose. Colonnello is always very perfumed & floral on the nose because of the sandy soils in which the vines grow. Blackberry & woodland fruit characters on the palate are balanced by rounded, ripe tannins & powerful structure. The Colonnello vineyard is one of Conterno's best vineyards. It is situated on Bussia Soprana in Monforte d' Alba & is one of the much sought after sites in the area. Maceration on the skins lasted 24 days & was followed by temperature controlled fermentation in stainless steel tank with maximum temperatures of 32°C. The wine remained in stainless steel for a further 4-5 months after which it was transferred to 25hl Slovenian oak barrels where it remained for about 26-28 months before bottling. * Limitied Stock* ...

More open on the nose than 2006 Cicala, with lovely intensity and a hint of violets and liquorice. On the palate, it has great intensity and depth and subtle tannins. Not quite so explosive as many 2007s, but still forward, balanced, long and elegant.

Product Description

More open on the nose than 2006 Cicala, with lovely intensity & a hint of violets & liquorice. On the palate, it has great intensity & depth & subtle tannins. Not quite so explosive as many 2007s, but still forward, balanced, long & elegant.
