On the palate. Malty, juniper forward with a hit of citrus. On the nose, cereal, bready, doughy notes with the juniper much less dominant than in the standard Portobello Road 171 Gin. Portobello Road Old Tom Gin pays homage to what we think gin would've been before its transformation took place into the London Dry style we know today. The distillery take a pot-distilled grain spirit & redistill it with juniper, coriander seed & liquorice root, before adding a little sugar & then ageing in a very old sherry barrel that has previously been used for ageing Scotch whisky. This perfectly balances the punch of the juniper with the lingering sweetness of the barrel ageing process.
