This variety of Glossy Abelia is a rounded, hardy shrub, which can be grown into a particularly striking informal hedge. Its semi-evergreen foliage retains its green colouring until the autumn, when the oval leaves acquire a bronze hue. However, it is the lilac-pink flowers that appear in July that arguably make Abelia ' Edward Goucher' most deserving of its RHS AGM (Award of Garden Merit). These tubular blooms are sure to enrich any cottage garden with their delicate petals & honey-like scent. Best of all, when the plant is given plenty of sunlight, it will continue to flower well into October, adding valuable autumn colour to beds & borders.
Height: 1.5m (4'11); Spread: 2m (6'6).
