With the addition of the Racing Speed™ model to the range, Fulcrum has democratised the high profile carbon fibre wheel. Racing Speed™ reflects every feature of the design lines of the Racing Speed™ XLR model, becoming the entry level model of the high profile carbon range. The rim is entirely made from carbon fibre, with a height 50mm. The carbon rims are made using a particular technique by which the carbon fabric is aligned so that the resulting rim is always balanced. The spokes are burnished, 18 radial for the front wheel & 21 with Fulcrum® 2:1 spoke ratio for the rear wheel. The oversize hubs are in aluminium & feature the innovative spoke anti-rotation system created by Fulcrum®, which consistently guarantees the maximum aerodynamic penetration of the aero spokes. This new hybrid technology will combine the legendary stiffness of the aluminum Racing Zero with a much better reactivity thanks to the carbon rim, that reduces the peripheral weight & the wheel inertia. A really light wheel, with superior handling & optimal power transfer. The rim A 29mm high carbon rim 17mm wide: a wider rim assures more comfort & a superior handling combined with more stiffness. The carbon is unidirectional, the highest performing carbon available on the market, with the 3k insertion on the braking surface, to allow better braking & superior durability. Aerodynamics: the wide & low profile, without any edge, reduces the friction coefficient. The nipples Racing Zero Carbon is the first wheel on the market with a carbon rim & aluminum spokes: this means that the nipples, the connection between the two different materials, had to be redesigned & studied. The new nipples, inserted thanks to Mo Mag™ tech, are specially shaped to make the mounting process easier & to stay in position without any buffer plates in other material. Features: Plasma Treatment- This gives the wheel set an ‘all black’ look. The Plasma treatment process creates an extremely hard & wear resistant surface. New braking surface- The specially milled braking surface is Plasma treated allowing superior braking in wet conditions. The ‘grooves’ in the braking surface allow water to drain away increasing braking friction. Carbon brake pads must be used Plasma treated freehub. This removes 20g from the weight of the freehub. A carbon Hub with oversize flange is used creating a light weight but stiff hub. Differentiated rim heights – 25mm at front for optimal maneuverability; 30mm at rear for optimal power transfer   Triple milling of the rim saves weight but also creates an aerodynamic profile. Reflective rim graphics add great contrast to the dark surface. Fulcrum Dynamic Balance keeps the Racing zero wheels perfectly stable but is achieved in the rim milling process rather than spokes in the Racing 5.
