I love this uniquely shaped chilli, it reminds me of a bell crossed with a flying saucer. The flavour isnt that hot, & it has a great fruity tang. I originally found this in Barbados, but it originates from South America, probably moving around the world with the Spanish conquistadors while they searched for gold! Named because of its winged shape, that resembles the flaps on a Bishops Crown. This 3-4' plant will produce 40-50+ uniquely shaped fruit, which are around 4cm long. The 3-4 wings are a milder & fruiter flavour than the main part of the chilli, which has a medium heat itself. 5, 000-15, 000SHU. Maturing from light green to apple red, this beautiful variety is extremely ornamental. Cropping & ripening later than the majority of other chillies, this has resulted in its nickname Christmas Bell. Sow February-April. Harvest June-September. ...

Chilli Pepper Plant - Trinidad Perfume

Chilli Pepper Plant - Trinidad Perfume The ‘Trinidad Perfume’ may look like a ‘Habanero’ but, you’ll be happy to know it doesn’t hold the same heat. This eyecatching chilli pepper plant will yield handfuls of shiny yellow lantern-shaped pods. Weighing in at a very mild 50-500 SHU it holds very little heat. When cooked this chilli pepper will release a perfume-like scent, its rich fruity flavour is popular in Caribbean dishes. Harvesting throughout the summer, the ‘Trinidad Perfume’ can be used to add a mild- citrus taste with smokey undertones to your favourite seasonal recipes. Supplied in a 10 cm pot, your chilli pepper plant will reach heights of 70cm (27) and spread: 50cm (20). Grow this eyecatching chilli pepper from your very own home, a must-have for any keen
chilli enthusiast. Caring for your Trinidad Perfume Your chilli plant will perform best in a greenhouse but will produce a good crop in a sunny sheltered location outdoors. It is important that you give it time to adjust to its new environment. Check the compost is moist and if required leave the plant to soak in approximately 5mm water for 5-10 minutes or until the top of the compost is damp. Stand the plant in a warm, light, airy place such as a windowsill or conservatory and allow to grow, ensuring that the compost is kept moist.
