Barbancourt is made to a recipe created in 1862 by Dupre Barbancourt. By using a signature double distillation process that is normally reserved for only the very finest cognacs he created a quite incredible rum with an exceptionally smooth taste. In 1949 Barbancourt relocated from Port au Prince to the heart of the sugar fields of Domaine Barbancourtand began to produce rum made from the sugar cane grown on its own plantations. The 5 star rum is double distilled in small copper pot stills before being aged in Limousin Oak barrels for 8 years, these barrels are normally only used to age fine cognacs in France. This means that the 8 year old has a wonderfully balanced taste & feel to it, this taste has won it 3 medals at the IWSC. Aroma: Vanilla, pepper, oak, & fruit Taste: Well balanced, baked fruits, spices, smoke, & oak
