Cockburn's Late Bottled Vintage 2009 port is made up of grapes from a single harvest & is aged in oak casks for up to 6 years before being bottled. Cockburn's LBV is an intense port with a strong character. On the eye, it is a deep blood red with an aroma of mulberry, summer fresh fruits, mainly red berries & chocolate. On the palate it feels full bodied with some complexity from when it was aging in wood creating a very intense sensation. It is extremely balance with a lingering enjoyable finish. This port would go well with strong cheese, most notably blue cheese or one similar. It would also complement many nuts, in particular Brazil nuts & dark chocolate dishes, but not necessarily desserts. Serve at cool room temperature or if preferred very slightly chilled.
