Cockburns Fine Tawny port is a blend of fine young wines from various harvests that are aged for Approx. three years in small wood barrels. They use small barrels in order to hasten the ageing process; this allows the wine to evolve into a red amber colour that acquires a silky feel & nutty flavour. Much like the ' Fine Ruby', the ' Tawny' is filtered before bottling, but the Tawny is a smoother & mellower drink to its counterpart. The Cockburn's Fine Tawny is made from a lighter skinned grape found in the Lower Douro region that is perfectly suited for tawny wine. While the tawny is maturing in wood, it loses some of its colour & rich texture but instead it acquires a classic nutty/butterscotch flavour. This port pairs well with rich creamy desserts or serve with almonds & pecans.
