Grahams 10 year old Tawny is Graham's own interpretation of the port blender's craft. Whilst other aged Tawny's are categorised under specific age designations, the Tawny is Graham's individual reflection of what is a fine wood matured Tawny port. Graham's 10 year old is made from wines of the very highest quality, only after careful selection are they matured in seasoned oak cask of 534 litres until their peak of maturity is reached. Tawny's are among the most demanding & challenging styles of port to produce requiring great skill & years of experience from the winemaker & blender. Getting the correct balance is essential in creating a Tawny, you need to keep the elegance & delicacy from prolonged cask ageing while retaining the fruit quality which lends this old Tawny its structure & longevity. The age of the wines selected for the final blend ranges from 7 to 9 years old, enough to have gained an attractive smooth texture & nutty character, whilst at the same time, young enough to retain the delicious rich fruit & spice flavours. The colour is deep Tawny, with complex nutty aromas combining with hints of honey & figs. On the palate rich mature fruit flavours that are beautifully mellowed invite a long luscious finish. It goes perfect with sweet pastries such as apple pie with cinnamon.
