In 1998 Jack Daniel's started a series of special bottles called the scenes from Lynchburg. These series of bottles are based on Lynchburg, the birth place of Jack Daniel's in Tennessee. Originally there was only meant to be 7 of these special Lynchburg bottles but due to their success, especially from collectors, Jack Daniel's decided to continue the range. Bottle No.9 features a mellowing vat, the same one used to filter the whiskey drop by drop through sugar maple charcoal, before it goes into the barrels for ageing.
