Mackillops Choice Mortlach sherry wood 1989 is a single malt Scotch whisky from the always popular Speyside region. Distilled at the Mortlach distillery on the first of September 1989 & bottled at cask strength in March 2012, which gives this whisky an age statement of 22 years old. Each bottle has an individual hand written bottle number & states what casks it was taken from. The whisky is matured in casks that previously held sherry which is evident when you smell & taste the whisky. On the nose you can detect soft malt & cinnamon, acacia, honey & figs. The palate is very straightforward & easy going. It is medium bodied with flavours of fresh fruit, including peach, plum & thick malt with date & walnut loaf. The finish is wonderfully nutty which its get from the well seasoned sherry casks.
