Take the plunge on a Bear Grylls Adventure Dive! Go scuba diving at Bear's adventure centre at the Birmingham NEC. The experiences are ideal for those who have never dived before & you'll get your PADI Discover Scuba qualification at the end too. Fish. Lots of them. Don't be surprised if inquisitive little fish swim around you whilst you're in the water. That's because the dive tank recreates the tropical ecosystem of a warm water reef so you might be in Birmingham but it's like you're scuba diving in the tropics. There are over 800 different species of marine life including Black Tip Reef Sharks (don't be scared!) & gentle Cownose Ray fish too. The on-shore briefing takes place in a recreation of a rusty old shipwreck
- the perfect backdrop to your voyage of discovery under the water. The dive instructors are truly superb taking the time to explain everything to you & literally holding your hand if you're a nervous first timer diver. Once you're kitted out with the wetsuit buoyancy control device mask tank & regulator you're ready to test the gear in the entrance pool. Your instructor will be with you all the way making sure everyone is at ease & feeling safe before dropping beneath the surface where a whole new underwater world comes into focus. You'll then move around the tank meeting the fishy residents & tropical marine plant life that's all around you. There are some scuba surprises in store too but we won't spoil them for you here! At all times you'll be with your instructor accompanied by a spotter & a safety diver. These experiences don't involve fins or swimming making the sessions as accessible & as inclusive as possible. It's all about gaining confidence in the water & seeing some amazing things whilst you're down there. Back up on the surface you'll be presented with your Bear Grylls Adventure PADI certificate which proves you discovered scuba in the tropical waters of Birmingham!

Learn all about the bees on a beekeeping experience near Cardiff! Spend an afternoon with professional beekeepers to literally lift the lid on what goes on inside a beehive. It's utterly fascinating stuff. Cardiff beekeepers Tim Wright & Pete Shaw joined forces to create their one-stop bee business with a buzz. With 200 hives to look after 100 colonies of bees raised each year courses for budding beekeepers & a shop selling beekeeping equipment & their own honey it's a full-time job for these two. These experiences give you an insight into life as a beekeeper
- & as a bee. All the protective gear you need will be provided for you all you need to bring along is a pair of wellies. The idea of these two-hour workshops is that you will learn lots in a fun & informative way with lots of hands-on time handling the bees & the hives. All precautions are taken in terms of safety & you'll see how the smoker is very much the beekeeper's friend! What's totally amazing is when you discover the life cycle of a bee. Be it a Buckfast Queen bee or a humble worker bee what happens during their lifetime is really quite mind-blowing. With Tim & Pete's extensive knowledge & decades of combined experience you'll be lapping up those bee facts & figures. Do you know how much honey a single hive can produce in a year? Any idea how many bees live in a colony? You'll find the answers to these & a whole load more beekeeping questions on these Cardiff courses. Based on a farm estate near Lisvane just north east of Cardiff city centre you're not far from the M4 for these beekeeping sessions which are generally held in the afternoons during summer Saturdays. As you'll be outside investigating the hives the activity is weather dependent. These beekeeping courses in Cardiff are suitable for anyone aged 12 years or over. It's also worth noting that you need absolutely no beekeeping experience for these courses but it is often a great way for those who are thinking about dabbling in keeping bees to get an insight into what is involved. They're also ideal if you're just curious about how honey is made!
