- truly great. The Azienda Agricola Ca'la Bionda is situated in the commune of Marano di Valpolicella, in the heart of the historically classic zone of the Valpolicella. The vineyard area extends over 29 hectares of hillside land at an altitude which ranges between 150 & 300 meters above sea level & with an eastern exposure. The winery, recently renovated & restructured, was founded in 1902 by Pietro Castellani who was both a passionate & dedicated grape grower & winemaker. It is now the fourth generation of the Castellani family, headed by Alessandro, who manage the estate great passion & hard work. Palate: cherries & small forest fruits continue on the palate which reveals a generous body, a smooth & silky mouth feel & a long finish. This Valpolicella is fermented in thermo-regulated stainless steel tanks with the temperature kept at a maximum of 25 degrees C. Following fermentation 90% of the wine is aged for a period of 18 months in 3000 litre barrels & the remaining 10% in oak barriques.
