His Eminence's Choice, the distinguished & most famous of all the Ports produced by Delaforce, was first put on sale back in the 1930's. The label itself was originally taken from the painting purchased by Henry Delaforce in the early 1920's. The wine is carefully blended after full tasting & examination of Delaforce ports which are selected from the best areas of the Douro port region at every year's production to become reserves for His Eminence. Delamain's vintage Cognacs originate from the Grande Champagne district, the central part & the first growth of the Cognac appellation. These spirits mature more slowly & achieve greater longevity than Cognacs from the surrounding districts, & develop greater finesse & delicacy. The Grande Champagne 1960 was the first vintage to be secured in Delamain's old vintages cellar; the first bottling was drawn from it at the end of 1992. The Grande Champagne Cognacs from prior vintages are from casks which have been kept in Delamain's cellars since shortly after their distillation, & the oldest of these have been transferred from cask to glass demijohn to arrest their maturation. This cellar is strictly controlled by the BNIC. Situated in Jarnac, on the banks of the Charente river, it benefits from an ideal degree of hygrometry for the ageing of Cognacs.
