The nose gives us a rich flavour of white flowers & white fruits such as peach, pear & apricot. The mouth is intense, round, softly structured & lightly perfumed with mineral notes. Elegant, it finishes on minerals & slightly citrus notes. This wine comes from 26 parcels planted on Davaye & Prisse soils. Situated in the south-western part of the Saint Veran appellation near the cliffs of Solutre & Vergisson, these Jurassic chalk soils are ideal to produce finest top quality fruits of Chardonnay. A rich & ripe Saint-Veran wine with character & typical of the terroir with white fruits aromas. The grapes are lightly pressed in a pneumatic press. The must is settling at low temperature. A slow alcoholic fermentation is done in temperature controlled stainless steel vats in order to preserve the freshness of the fruit. After alcoholic & malolactic fermentations they blend the different soils & the aging last until February March. ...

100% Grenache which is as unusual as it is modern, & demonstrates the potential power of this grape when handled skilfully. In the mid 1990's, dynamic husband & wife duo Franck & Murielle Mousset were looking to set up their own domaine & found a superbly located 4 ha plot in the Courthezon commune. Low yields, minimal intervention & an avoidance of all chemical applications result in wines of pure intensity & refinement. ' Vineyard soil: s&. 100% Grenache. Bright dark red. Overripe aromas. Some real spice & lots of muscular fruit. Tannins well polished. Difficult to judge. There is certainly a great deal there! I think it will develop into something really quite exciting.' A fresh, floral nose of acacia & magnolia blends beautifully with almond notes & a hint of anise. Elegant & refined, the texture has density without weight. Flavours of pear, lychee & a touch of lemon custard present a complex, harmonious picture now, but the lively balance means you can easily cellar the 2016 Arthur for the next three to five years. ...

The 2009 Pinot Noir Willamette Valley is deep & vibrant, with brilliant colour & excellent clarity. Aromatically, the wine is quite open, even opulent
- a mix of velvety rose petals, violets & spices. On the palate, the texture is lush & mouth-coating, but well-balanced. Together, they provide definition & intensity, followed by refined, silky tannins. The finish is quite long, with beautiful cherry notes, reminding me of fresh cobbler in the peak of summer. While the 09 will age quite well, it is to my personal taste, delicious to drink today.
- Veronique Drouhin-Boss, January, 2011 In the Willamette Valley, 2009 will be remembered as an exceptionally long growing season that ended in a relatively relaxed, even harvest. The accumulated heat throughout the season, in addition to a September heat spike, yielded wines with full fruit character
- powerful but balanced. Much like 2004 & 2006, these are wines that have an immediate charm but will age gracefully.

Domaine Drouhin - Chardonnay, Arthur 2013 75cl Bottle

Domaine Drouhin's Arthur is fresh and inviting on the nose, with beautiful citrus, lemon zest, grapefruit, white flowers such as magnolia, even some stony character, and a hint of toast. The acidity and the sense of minerality will remind you of Chablis, but the mouthfeel is purely Oregon. Very complex, this Chardonnay could be cellared for a couple years. Ripe, healthy fruit was hand-picked into small totes, and then whole-cluster pressed. Half of the juice was fermented in French Oak barrels (30% new) to create a round, rich texture. The other half was fermented and aged in stainless steel to maintain the purest and most elegant expression of Chardonnay. Limited stock.
